Coasting Along

Story: 3-Stars
************

This episode has as its centerpiece an author interview and discussion of the recent Netflix phenomenon "Bird Box". The editors then take the opportunity to discuss several book-to-screen adaptations heading our way. Perhaps the most interesting segment closes the show with a discussion on interesting stories that have not yet made the leap from page to film, though I also was interested in the 'book before movie?' (or vice versa) discussion along the way.

This is the second episode that capitalizes on a recent buzzworthy release (the first being the launch of the Beastie Boys' book). A more organized presentation of content this time around was appreciated.

Performance: 3-Stars
*******************

Noteworthy is the loss of editor Rachel (permanent?) from the show, whose wit was always appreciated. More importantly, I felt she brought a solid genre balance to the production that I fear may be lost.

Episode 16

I like that they did this episode. I didn't know that some of the movies and / or tv shows started out as books on this list. I do like listening (or reading) books before they are adapted into movies or tv shows.

Another great episode!

Great episode! Thanks! I tend to do either-or when it comes to books and movies because I hate feeling let down, which usually occurs when I see the movie after I read the book. I'm sure this is because so much happens in books, and if the movie included everything, it would end up lasting 17 hours, instead of two. The only exception is that I do watch the movies of books we read in class, when available. I teach HS, and because students struggle to get a firm grasp on some of the texts we read, I like to see if there are particular scenes in the movie that will help to further their understanding. A good example of this is the Cyclops scene in The Odyssey.

My favorite audiobook of all time is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, narrated by Bahni Turpin. I didn't make it to the theater to see it, but it just came out on video, and I do plan to purchase it!! The book was amazing, and the message was so strong that I can't imagine the movie being a let-down in any way, shape, or form. I cannot wait to see it! In this case, many of my students have already seen the movie, but they haven't yet read the book. I want to make T.H.U.G. our semester 2 novel study. I've purchased enough copies of the book to run it as a small group study, but all of them want to read it (yay!). So, I've been saving up so I can get a class set (tell Amazon to put them on sale for 15min and then somehow alert me...I'll buy every copy! Hehee!).

Just want to say thanks, again. I enjoy your show! :-)

I could. I could stop listening.

This had very little to do with the content suggested by the title, unless you count radio hosts just naming books that have been adapted. There's nothing about process or result, really. More importantly, this group is plagued with the "love-the-sound-of-my-own-voice" mannerisms that frequently show up on public radio/talk radio programs. I want to hear people talk about a subject that is so interesting to them that they forget they are being recorded. I gave up after a while because the self-conscious chatter was just too shallow to keep my interest. If you're loving on your own voice/intellect into a mic, I'm done.

what is this??

sadly, these girls are not entertaining, they  may have interesting content, but its nearly impossible to grasp it, imagine yourself at a bar and you're there listening to a conversation between 2 "WOOGIRLS" (refrence "woogirl how i met your mother") on YouTube, a quick google search  should get you to the meaning and videos, there is a constant ring in the background and its literally time you will never get back once wasted.

Boring, petty, confused leftist ladies

Can't relate to insecure leftists droning on about progressive themes. Zoned out a few times to their noise while trying to find something interesting in their content.

too chatty

I am a "book-a-holic" and love book podcasts...the best ever being "Books on a Nightstand". The women who do Audicted seem knowledgeable but it's so difficult to get through all of their laughter and chatting... I just can't listen to this podcast. How do I removed it from my audible library? I don't want to have it automatically downloaded anymore. Please let me know if this complaint is at all common. I'd be willing to listen again if the material can be communicated in a less frivolous manner.
