Publisher's Summary

[Contains explicit content] It's not just sex, drugs and weapons on the Dark Web. The original intent of using the web anonymously was to encourage free speech in relative safety.

Being safe from harm in a more real sense is explored by Geoff White, Channel 4 News's former Technology Reporter, when he meets victims of stalking and domestic violence where Dark Web tools have gotten very personal.

World within a world

I had heard about the dark web but never really understood the three w’s about it. what, who & why.

I am glad that although there is a dark element the authors did show that in every darkness there is light no matter how dim.

Good uses for Dark Web?

This episode basically talks about some of the good uses for the Dark Web. It also talks about a few instances of people taking advantage of the trust of friends or loved ones to break into their social media and/or email accounts. Scary stuff!

Who knew the Dark Web did good?

I listened to this 10-episode series and found it to be informative and entertaining. This episode surprised me because I always associated the Dark Web with awful criminal activity. The series thoroughly delves into different aspects of the Dark Web. This episode stood out to me.

Interesting but difficult to hear in places

Some of the interviews have really poor audio which is a shame. Especially considering it was made for audible.

Well informed and well balanced 'deep dive'

Glaucon, a character quoted in Plato's Republic says "...if they were invisible all men believe in their hearts that injustice is far more profitable to the individual than justice... If you could imagine any one obtaining this power of becoming invisible, and never doing any wrong or touching what was another's, he would be thought by the lookers-on to be a most wretched idiot, although they would praise him to one another's faces, and keep up appearances with one another from a fear that they too might suffer injustice." too pessimistic?, listen and decide for yourself.
