Today I'm going to rant about the trace inconsistencies in the book. If Dobby used magic in book 2 and Harry was blamed for it, why is he not blamed for Tonks and Moody using magic in book 5? The trace supposedly is lifted at age 17, so Tonks and Moody should not have any trace on them marking them responsible for the magic done at Privet Drive when the whole gang came to pick up Harry (minus Lupin in the movie which was so dumb). Therefore, since magic was performed in a muggle residence in a muggle neighborhood, did the ministry get alerted that magic had been done there or not? In book 2, yes. Evidently in book 5, no. In magical households, it is clearly stated that it is the parents' responsibility to prevent their underage children from doing magic out of school, because it is not possible for the ministry to track which member of the family is doing magic, indicating that the ministry tracks where magic is being done, not who is doing it. To me, that means that the ministry should have been alerted about the magic done at Privet Drive when the order came to pick him up. However, we are left to assume that the ministry was in fact not privy to this magic as it was never addressed in the book.

I also did not like in the movie that we were given the impression that Tonk's hair changes color uncontrollably based on her emotions. That really takes away from how talented and special she is as a witch and an auror.

Finally, the flight scene in the book made NO SENSE because OBVIOUSLY they were not supposed to be seen. Especially Moody never would have allowed such a risky joyride, flying through muggle streets and boats and all that bull-oney.

Thanks for another great episode Ellen and Keighty!
