Critic Reviews

"Few people have done more to inspire an entrepreneur revolution and give entrepreneurs the tools and advice they need to grow their businesses in recent years than Dan. What I love about what he says and what he writes is that it all comes from a deep personal experience of bootstrapping a successful global small business himself from little more than a maxed out credit card." (Mike Harris, Founder of FirstDirect and Egg PLC, author of Find Your Lightbulb)
"Daniel’s book is a brilliant resource to help entrepreneurs ‘find their place’ and live the ‘entrepreneur revolution dream’." (Alistair Lukies, CEO of Monitise)
"Daniel Priestley’s book Entrepreneur Revolution perfectly teaches how to adopt an enterprising, street-smart mindset that produces results. His own failures, like mine, have taught him valuable and practical down-to-earth lessons which any aspiring leaders can learn from and will enjoy trying and applying themselves." (Lara Morgan, Founder of Pacific Direct)
"Daniel Priestley is one of a kind. Having worked with him for many years now, I can clearly see his unique ability to intuitively identify a collective need and provide a completely innovative solution, always at the right time and in the right place." (Andrew Griffiths, Australia’s number-one small-business author)
"This book will totally change the way you think about growing a business. An absolute must read that should be in the hands of more people." (Jeremy Harbour, author of Go Do!)

Eye opening

What did you love best about Entrepreneur Revolution?

There were a couple moments that I feel certainly changed me, which is a lot to gain from a five hour audiobook. I am no stranger to researching entrepreneurship, and I honestly expected a lot of the same things I have heard in other books. I was pleasantly surprised to find some of my ideas challenged. This book will motivate you, if he was selling something I would have bought it! I also enjoyed some of the thought challenges and activities presented in the book.

Motivation is great, but what about take away? I'll be honest, towards the mid-end I lost a little drive. I get frustrated trying to decide how to filter, find, and develop ideas. The ending was crazy powerful to me however, and I now want to listen again. Especially chapter 7.

I read these books expecting to both become inspired and leave with actions I can take to making my dreams a reality. 5/5 for motivation and purpose, this book has it. From a practical sense, I felt somewhat like the advice was geared more towards his marketing background than other business ideas. There will never be a step by step guide to creation, because your business and life is untrodden ground.

Bottom line is its worth 5 hours of your life, and I look forward to more listens and gems of knowledge gained. Thank you Daniel!

The bible for entrepreneurs. 2 thumbs up for Entre

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Absolutely. It is a wonderful book, especially to anyone who is thinking of becoming an entrepreneur. I enjoyed it thoroughly. I am currently listening to it for the 2nd time, some parts i've heard about 7 times.

What other book might you compare Entrepreneur Revolution to and why?

Haven't read any books that compare yet.

What about Glen McCready’s performance did you like?

Excellent reading by Glen McCready.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I think the title is perfect, gripping: Entrepreneur Revolution, sounds like Atlas Shrugged.

Any additional comments?

I am directing a Municipal Entrepreneurship Center in a developing country. Needless to say, the challenges we are facing are huge, but so are the opportunities. I am also a mentor for this center, and I have to admit sometimes I run out of ideas. That is until I downloaded this audiobook. It is completely filled with valuable tips, strategies and insights that I have found very helpful. From the "product ecosystem" to the "7 maxims" that every entrepreneur should follow, I enjoyed every second. I absolutely recommend it for anyone who is thinking about joining the entrepreneur revolution.

You need to read this book before it's too late!!!

If you could sum up Entrepreneur Revolution in three words, what would they be?

Changes your life!

What other book might you compare Entrepreneur Revolution to and why?

Daniel Priestly talks about the same ideas that Seth Godin talks about in terms of us being at the start of a new revolution.

Have you listened to any of Glen McCready’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to this narrator before but he delivers the message and story very well.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes!!! This book will change you life and you need to listen to it before it's too late.
It explains how we are at the beginning of a new revolution and it gives you the tools to change from being a factory worker in the industrial revolution to an entrepreneur in the new revolution. This book was published in 2013, so if you want to be at the forefront of the ideas introduced you need to read it now.

I have listened to a lot of business books and this is up there with Robert Cialdini's book 'Influence' in the way that it gives you a clear framework to follow to revolutionise your business.

Any additional comments?

You need to listen to this book more than once to truly discover all the gems of information that are there. Also listen to Daniel's other two books which go into more details on two of the key steps of Entrepreneur Revolution, Key Person of Influence and Oversubscribed.

Not for me

I enjoyed the opening few chapters which were positive and full of enthusiasm but I'm afraid once the book got practical, it lost me. I realised pretty quickly that I'm not an "entrepreneur" in the sense of this book, even though I've set up and run 4 successful businesses in the past decade. I have no desire to create a global business or to have great wealth. My businesses are there to support my way of life.

The idea of walking around with £1,000 in my pocket just so I can refuse to buy things I could get with that wad of cash is, for me, totally ludicrous. The idea of making 3 calls randomly, inviting a stranger to lunch etc etc. Nope. Even more crazy is the contention that I need to price my core product at £1,000+. I sell craft kits. Lots of them. But none cost a grand.

By the terms of this book, I'm an abject failure. Fortunately for me, I'm a happy one.

The narration is pretty good - nice to have an English accent for a change. He does sound a little like C3PO when played at 1.5x speed.

Great Intro, But Don't Waste Your Time

I liked and enjoyed the First couple of chapters detailing the history of economic revolutions and describing the current entrepreneur revolution we are in. They were interesting and insightful. So I was really excited to listen to the other chapters.

I should have shooed there and saved myself valuable time and multiple cringe-inducing moments!!! How does this book have such a high rating?

All other chapters were fillers. Generic, general and vague platitudes which are very low on detail, and explained using metaphors that are not well-thought out (downright childish, see the ridiculous section that included 'baking a cake'). It gives a feeling of low effort by the writer.

If you somehow withstood the many fillers and repetitive platitudes, you were rewarded with sections of long, boring sales pitch showing how the writer has created a great life for himself, travel the world stayed in 5-star hotels, helped many turn their terrible business into gold etc. The main aim of the book is to direct you to the writer's consulting business and his website. Literally every little section included "to find out more visit www.xxxx.com". Really!?!?!

I learnt much much more from Reading The Millionaires Fast Lane and Unscripted by MJ DeMarco. They are Worlds apart from this book.

I can tell he’s a fraudster

Rehash of old ideas as « revolutionary » as a long drawn out and trite sales pitch . Save your time and money. If you want to start a business or grow one get down to work. With a bit of luck you will make enough to make it worth all the sacrifice. But Please do not waste people’s time and goodwill on telling them what a genius you are. They’ll hate you and everything that you remind them of including your products !

A bit arrogant, but some useful ideas

I didn't really enjoy this book. It was a bit arrogant. E. G. Referring to "little people". And some clearly silly suggestions. E. G. Amazon have a bad business model. All in all it came across as if written by someone with a huge ego.

Full of self-congratulatory fluff

Full of self-congratulatory fluff. Has the same cheesy gimmick at the start of the book about there being a secret / hidden message underlying his book. People don't want gimmicks, they want answers / something helpful / useful.

Finally some tangible actions to work with

Would you listen to Entrepreneur Revolution again? Why?

I am about to start listening to it again already, and have only just finished it.
I have already re-listened to some of the sections to ensure I've captured all of the key points or activities to do myself, but there's so much value in each section (+ watching the videos online).

What does Glen McCready bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

While I always prefer the author to do the narration as you can just 'feel' the difference in passion for the subject matter, Glen narrated well enough you could almost believe he wrote the book. Perhaps the author thought his Australian accent wouldn't have been so well accepted? (this is coming from a Kiwi)

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Just the raw emotion of wanting to take tangible action towards becoming a legitimate entrepreneur / business owner.
I'm already starting to work on the recommended activities, which are great for brainstorming and forming ideas, as well as having clear guidance of the next steps to turn the ideas into reality.
