This remarkable work offers a subtle, bold vision of humankind and the world around us - a sense of what gives life - from a writer who seems to draw grace and strength from the very substance of his subject.

A Very Practical resource book on vocabulary building through etymology
A Very Practical resource book on vocabulary building through etymology.
It is clear and practical. As a polyglot and interpreter/ translator dealing with seven European languages, I attest to the accuracy of the words.
I should advise that more words be included.
It may also be more handy if vocabulary could be classified into say, medical, academic, athletics, economics games, politics, religious, and other groups groups.
Bravo for a good effort!

Logical way to improve any vocabulary!
The approach uses a logical system for improving word power in order to learn English or any language.
Three suggestions:
1. Spell out each Latin and Greek root word,
2. Review root words from more frequently to less commonly used words in order to build from the more familiar to the ever more complex learning processes,
3. Add Superlearning or other empirically proven musical accompaniment that enhances learning (quietly in the background)

Story
In The Lives of a Cell, Dr. Lewis Thomas opens up to the listener a universe of knowledge and perception that is perhaps not wholly unfamiliar to the research scientist; but the world he explores is also one of men and women, of complex interrelationships, old ironies, peculiar powers, and intricate languages that give identity to the alienated and direction to the dependent. This remarkable work offers a subtle, bold vision of humankind and the world around us - a sense of what gives life - from a writer who seems to draw grace and strength from the very substance of his subject.

Story
Two contrasting reflections by Aristotle which cover very particular ground. In 'On the Soul', Aristotle presents his view of the 'life essence' which, he argues, is possessed by living things whether plants, animals or humans. Not a 'soul' in the generally accepted Western use of the term, this 'soul', he says, is a life force that is indivisible from the organism that possesses it.
