Publisher's summary

If we can't outrun the past, we won't have a future.

The rock on her hand is real, but our engagement is a fake. Once upon a time, I dreamed of buying her a ring, until everything blew up in my face. That was the past, and this is business. At least it is until I kiss her.

It's supposed to be part of the act - and it is, right until my lips touch hers.

I forget where we are.

I forget why I'm kissing her. I just want more. More of her taste, more of the tug of her fingers in my hair as she pulls me closer. More of her tongue stroking mine, more of her breath in my lungs. Just more. I want everything.

Annalise is more than a client. More than my ex.

She could be my future.

If I can't keep her safe, I won't lose her to the past - I'll lose her forever.

Wraps up the series, very well.

I really enjoyed this book, both as a stand alone and as the last to the series (as of now anyhow).

Great Story Line and Narration

Ivy Layne is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. The storyline is unpredictable which keeps you on your toes. The characters we all relatable. Definitely ordering the next in the series now.

Great second chance romance

I generally have problems with second chance romances...mostly because whatever first separated them seems lame and weak. Not so here, and I found their story and reunion believable. I did think Annalise was a little naive and overly trusting. The second she walked in and saw Riley at Winters House she should have put two and two together.

Also, the bad guy was done so obviously that it makes every single person involved look like a moron for not figuring it out. I had a hope for a moment that maybe all those obvious clues were just misdirection by the author to throw us off and we were going to get a surprise zinger. But nope. Also, the way the conflict resolved could have been done better. No spoilers, but intrigue is not this author’s strongest suit.

What IS her strong suit, however, is relationships and romance and writing heroes that are the kind of guys you could see yourself falling in love with for real. The characters, despite outrageous circumstances, feel real and react consistently like real, flawed, but lovable people.

The narrators are great. Beckett Greylock, in particular, has, in my not so humble opinion, the best voice of anyone in this genre. I catch myself giving “his” voice to characters in my head when I read traditional novels.

I knew I was right

We get answers that have dragged out for several of the books of this series. There was no doubt for me in the very beginning when I made the peg. I was not sure how it was all going to come together but it did and I was so right. It was so worth it all. This played out spectacularly.

Annalise and Riley came together and feel hard. There parting was not one of there own making but of their unselfish choosing. Of course Aiden always knows what he feels is right for everyone. Years later they have a chance to make things what they should have been. The reach for their HEA was not easy or always safe but they worked for it and almost paid with their life. Annalise was fragile. Coming home should have been safe for her but it was not. Watching their journey through danger, family, lies and deceit was one to see. The e cliffhanger ends.

Duo narrators CJ Ana Beckett made it well worth the time to listen and consume the words.

This series is so good

Wow this series gets better and better. I really enjoyed the narrations and both CJ and Beckett as narrators. These two fabulous narrators gave live to Riley and Annalise characters. Finally the mysteries of past were resolved in this book and the narrators kept me hooked. I can’t wait to finally listen To Aiden’s story. My favorite Winters .this series is re read and re listen worthy.
