When Bell Wade’s father passes away suddenly, she is left nearly destitute and becomes dependent on his colleague’s goodwill. But her gratitude doesn’t extend to being married off to a vile man.

In Bell’s drive to make decisions for herself, she finds a matrimonial agency that will match her with a man in the Western territories. With no options left, she makes the choice to leave her life in Boston and travel to Idaho.

To her surprise, her husband-to-be in Shadow Gulch, Doctor Elliot Sanders, has no idea of her existence. And when it turns out that Elliot’s niece Maria wrote the letter to the matrimonial agency, Bell has another choice to make. Will she back out of the agreement and try again? Or will she stay on in Shadow Gulch and give the handsome doctor a chance to get to know her - and love her?

fair

Traveling all that way. and then hemming and hawwing around seemed foolish. The child had more sense than the adults.
Fair story. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator was good

Sweet

Poor Belle left on her own. She tried to survive on her own but could not make enough money to pay the rent. Her deceased father's friend offered to take her in, but after four months they said time to go and knowing she was destitute arranged a marriage to an old widower she never met. Belle refused and became a mail order bride. Her positive endeavor was squashed quickly for her betrothed knew about her or the plan. Of course there is a HEA in time for Christmas.
Ms. Kelly narrated this book and was excellent.

Fun, sweet listen!

What happens when your choices are taken away from you? When Bell's father died, her future was destined to marry a horrible man. But she decided to take her life into her own hands, writing to the the Mail Order Bride column. Picking a doctor in Shadow Gulch, she makes her way across the country to find out he didn't even place the ad! Elliott Sanders is the guardian for his 3 nieces and nephew. Giving up his own life to do right by the children, he works hard, but has no life, so his oldest niece places the ad to try to find him the happiness he deserves. Will Bell find the time to tell Elliott of the plan? Will he send her back to Boston only to have her in an unhappy marriage? This cute, fun listen is a breath of fresh air. It is short, but is the perfect listen to cleanse the mind and put you in the Christmas spirit!

Meghan Kelly tells the the story with her fabulous narration. There is something soothing about mail order bride stories, and Kelly's voice is a perfect fit for this one. She molds the characters with voices that are suited for each one and gives us all the warmth and feels for the season. I truly enjoyed this quick novella!

A Beautiful Unconventional Love Story

Engaged by Christmas is a beautiful love story that may be unconventional but it truly works. Bell leaves Boston with the promise of becoming a mail order bride to Dr. Sanders little does she know things are going to to as expected. I truly loved that it for a short book it told a complete story that is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves unconventional romance stories. This is my honest unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition. I received this book for free in exchange for my honest unbiased review.
