Send cheesecake and a lot of coffee, because I swear I just heard a wolf’s howl in the middle of San Francisco. I was a skeptic about the supernatural…until my baby's birth sparked storybook murders around the city and each body led closer and closer to my grandma’s house. As an investigative journalist, I’ve solved a lot of mysteries, but now I’m a sleep-deprived mother. I have no clue how to balance my baby in one hand and my job in the other while I hunt a supernatural stalker.

Several years ago, an ARkStorm, a once-in-a-thousand-years flood event caused by a series of intense atmospheric rivers, flooded the Central Valley of California from Sacramento to what was once Los Angeles. The weight of the water was equivalent to the volume generated by the Mississippi River times 22. It challenged an already fragile seismic system consisting of hundreds of active faults.

Publisher's summary
Between John McGregor and his trapped daughter lies a nation in darkness, and a city that has become a fortress of fear.
John McGregor, a former US special forces operative, saw the writing on the wall long ago. He knew that the day would soon come when modern society fell. Those suspicions were proven correct when an EMP attack destroys the nation's power grid, plunging the American people into a dark apocalypse. John's property has been set up as a sanctuary for a chosen few, where they could live off the land and be protected in peace indefinitely. There's just one problem. His daughter Emily is trapped in New York City as the once great metropolis transforms into a dark dystopian nightmare under martial law. Now John must fight his way up the East Coast and venture into the city to find his daughter and bring her home where she belongs.
