Publisher's Summary

Over 4,000 students gathered at the University of Michigan to hear Republican Party candidate Ron Paul speak. As he began to address the topics of monetary policy and the coming depression, a chant rose from the crowd, "End the Fed! End the Fed!" As dollar bills were lit on fire and thrown into the night skies, it became clear that the real problem, one that nobody in the media was talking about, was the central bank - an unconstitutional entity and a political, economic, and moral disaster.

Most people don't give a second thought to the Federal Reserve, but they should. In End the Fed, Ron Paul argues that the Fed is both corrupt and dangerously autonomous, inflating currency today at nearly a Weimar or Zimbabwe level. What most people don't realize is that the Fed is actually working against their own personal interests. Ron Paul's urgent appeal tells us how we went wrong and what we need to do fix America's economic structure for future generations.

Very clear and understandable

Representative Paul has done a great service to our country in explaining a very complex and universally misunderstood topic in a clear and understandable way. We as a nation and people are in a very precarious position. We must take back our country and the only way to do this is for an enlightened citizenry to elect representatives who will govern for the good of all citizens and not the privileged few. I believe this is the answer but I do not think it will happen. The only question in my mind is how soon the economic collapse and ensuing chaos will happen. What kind of nation will emerge? Men like Ron Paul are sounding the warning but not enough people are listening, certainly not our Federal representatives. Oh well, thanks for being a true patriot Ron.

A must read for every American.

Ron Paul has made a rather convincing argument that the unconstitutional, immoral and corrupt Federal Reserve needs to be abolished and that a return to sound money through a gold standard and free markets be reimplemented as the constitution stimpulates. Ron Paul is the voice of liberty and reason and challenges his followers to educate themselves about just how unconstitutional our government has become, how much power has been usurped and how much of our liberty is being encrouched upon. I recommend this book for anyone that values their liberty or wants a better understanding of the federal reserve's role within our government, economy and society.

Eye opening information!!

This a book/historical lesson we should all hear. It affects all of our lives.
Let's hope it helps open the American eyes before our economy is dragged further down. The price for all these bailouts and takeovers needs to be addressed. This book will open your eyes like never before.

GREAT information!

Ron Paul did excellent work in creating this book. He keeps the book full of fact based subject matter but allows enough breathing room to keep it intresting. I believe every American should read this book to come to an understanding of the problems our nation will face if we do nothing. The book is full of great hisorical facts from as early as the 1700's to our current present era.

Burn, Baby, Burn!

The tip-off to a work of absolutist ideology is that every reader is a dutiful member of "the movement" and gives it five stars, like a troop formation. The beginning and end of this book are telling. Paul describes how a core of young people at one of his speeches start a chant of "End the Fed," which is taken up by the crowd, while others burn dollar bills. At the end Paul describes a hopeful future because "anger is building and that anger can be channeled." Unwittingly, he reveals the totalitarian impulses so often found in anarcho-captialism and the libertarian cadres. All of this is swaddled in the folksy delivery and Horatio Alger atmosphere that worked so well for Reagan. Shucks, it's just plain common sense! And indeed, there is much to agree with in Paul's assessment of how fractional reserve banking works and how it is abused. Likewise, his anti-war, anti-racist, pro-rights stance sets him apart from the average Chamber of Commerce conservative. But his conclusions lead us into an Alice in Wonderland world where left is right and up is down. Like most modern libertarians, he follows Mises in regarding his "free market" economics as a universal, a priori, deductive system that needs no confirmation in history or experience. This is convenient. It allows a utopian agenda based on an utter fabrication of history and denial of facts. Counter factuals pile up. American was prosperous "in spite of Hamilton." The crash of 1837 had nothing to do with Jackson's attack on the central bank. The Great Depression "would have" ended if only Hoover and Roosevelt hadn't meddled. The recent crash was caused by over-regulation, etc., etc. He also fails to mention that his schemes of total privatization of any commons and private money have been tried. They gave us the company script and private police of the mining towns, as oppressive as Stalinism. What Paul and his ilk call radical "freedom" is only a power vacuum waiting to be filled.

Most important reading of the year

This book challenges so much of our established system. Everything from government to our economy's foundation and its institutions. Its daring, though provoking, and well meaning. There is a reason so many Americans are enthusiastic about Dr. Paul. Read this book and find out why!

An unfortunate sequel to The Revolution

First let me say, I enjoyed Dr. Paul's other book. I don't totally agree with his strident libertarian stance, but I respect the honesty of his opinions. This book does not lack for opinions; what it lacks is any kind of justification thereof. Unlike his previous work, there is very little attempt to explain the claims made; it is essentially a long argument from authority: the Austrian Economists say it is so, and they are always right. If you already agree with Dr. Paul and just want to hear more assertions about the dangers of the Fed and the superiority of the gold standard, by all means, buy this audiobook. If you are hoping for a book to make you think, this isn't really it. I suppose I am being too hard on the Congressman, but after his last book I am just a bit disappointed.

wealth of information,

He brings up great points and information to make you think. With the country up to its eye balls in debt and not end in site to the borrowing. Not balanced budget on the horizon it makes sense to think out of the normal box.

Enlightening, and reassuring in a way...

I am reading this book at the end of 2020. An unfortunate year that is seeing everything talked about in this book happen all over again and with even more deep societal impacts than in 2008.
In 2008, the banks were fully exposed for the madness of how they were operating and hurting the real economy.
In 2018 and 2019, after empty promises of reform (by the people responsible for the crisis in the first place...), everything had gone back to same level of craziness that caused the previous crisis. The debt crisis and the reality of our western zombie economies were becoming apparent... But this time, the inevitable truth was going to be all about the complete inefficacy of every single one of our governments and the ridiculousness of the central banks policies. They were ALL about to be fully exposed and our democracies would have hopefully found a way to remove their control over our money supply and put a stop to all these illegal bailouts and the socialisation of the debt accumulated by greedy companies not producing anything of value to the economy...
Early 2020, enters Covid. And the same power greedy, and wealth thieves enacted the same shenanigans they always pull. Except they have found the perfect scapegoat to hide their ineptitude and justify even more their involvement in our daily lives.
This book is very enlightening and heartwarming in the sense that, it feels reassuring that some politicians operating in our institutions DO remember what it means to work for the real common good of our societies, and really try to defend and fight for our freedoms.
However, it is beyond scary and discouraging that, not only the same nonsense that led us to 2008, is repeating itself; but this time our governments have taken the next step in this madness, by implementing totalitarian arbitrary measures. Whether it's police brutality against normal citizens peacefully protesting, the suppression of the basic right to work and make a living, the interdiction to visit your family and friends, or the censorship against free independent opinions criticizing "the Party" decisions on every mainstream media platforms.

2020 has showed their true colours. I can only hope that we will find a way to rise against this communist oligarchy that is and has been in power for way too long.

Must read

Anyone that want to understand how our monetary system works, this is a must read book. Well written with factual information backing up the author’s claims and is in the category of books like the Creature from Jekyll Island which was my favourite all time book.
