Sten embarks on the ultimate treasure hunt: the search for the source of the Eternal Emperor's power. But his quest uncovers the dark secret of the emperor's past - and Sten finds himself questioning his loyalties - and whether the only way to save the human race is to destroy the Empire he vowed to protect.

I know it's fiction, but I learned more about government in this series. A very clear story, without the dry reach of most books. This has always been my favorite series. Turn this series into a TV show and you would have a winner.

Are you sure this is a work of fiction?

loved this series but the reading takes it over the top. Jerry Sciarrio is the best reader I've ever heard. his accents are amazing. he beings the book to life!

great story, masterfully read

If you could sum up Empire's End in three words, what would they be?

Let me put it this way - you might as well buy book eight now because if you've listened to all 7 books, there is no way in Hell that you aren't listening to Book 8. That said, book 7 is really good. It just that you (like STEN) is left feeling a little empty. Let's just hope that Book 8 will give us all the strength to endure.

Excellent Set-up to Book 8

The series was always okay pulp sci-fi. Not great but good for some light enjoyment. Sadly this book fell flat like a bad souffle. Yes I keep making cooking references because there are interminable cooking scenes. Why?

The real failure is there is no tension. There's no doubt Sten will win. The enemy is always incompetent. The good guys always brilliant. Then the ending is a literal deus ex machina.

Sadly disappointing.

BTW, what is the point of large warships in this universe. They are always getting taken out by far smaller vessels

Series ends with an ugly concoction from the kitchen
