Incredible book
I rarely write reviews but this book deserves to be lauded. Hints of Dune, narrative like the Kingkiller Chronicles. Easy flowing storyline with deep word building. Wonderful

Gripping
Loved this book, which was a surprise! I hadn’t heard of this author. My husband had this and I needed something to listen to. However, I just bought the sequel!
The world he creates with its multifaceted characters and cultures, each with their own language, is creative genius.
I’m sensitive to how women are portrayed and liked the female characters. It passes the Bechdel test.
I liked this so much I will look for other things by this author.

Not bad
The story was interesting, but the action sequences were underwhelming. I liked how the narrator voiced the side characters, but I didn't care for his voice for the main character. I did enjoy the story.

This is science fiction at its best
I’ve been reading science fiction almost exclusively for decades. This science fiction series by Christopher Ruocchio is the best I’ve ever read, and by a good margin. His plot, character and world building, character dialog, and writing style should all be studied by those aspiring to become accomplished writers of fiction.
Mr. Ruocchio, thank you for these works! To me they are superb!

Even better on a re read
Ruocchio knocks its out of the park with action and political intrigue. Strong action packed ending with twists and turns I wasn’t expecting!
The performance from Samuel Roukin is superb! He’s become with this series one of my favorite narrators!

Well worth the slow start
This series is incredible. If you’re a Red Rising fan, you’ll Bloodydamn love this.
The first book is a little hard to get into but it’s worth it. Each book gets better and better.

A slow, but incredible start.
This is a character, and universe that requires the pace of the story. Give it the time it warrants, and you’ll be pleased. The final 3/8ths of this book justifies the initial plot hooks and small lull around the middle.
