Publisher's summary

Goleman was the first to identify emotional intelligence as a critical factor in leadership performance and success. He wrote about this succinctly in his best-selling book, Emotional Intelligence. His Harvard Business Review (HBR) article is the first identifying and analyzing specifically how emotional intelligence is a critical factor in management success and CEO performance. This audiobook provides a core summary of his best seller, as well as focusing on his insights about the importance of a keen emotional intelligence for management and CEO performance.

Goleman identifies and discusses in details the five critical components of emotional intelligence (ei): self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, and social skills. Goleman analyzes how executives with strong ei skills make the best managers and CEOs. Coleman provides numerous approaches throughout the audiobook about how to improve the listener’s ei.

Great content, but the narration is not good

Great content, but the narration is not good, often it is not clear. Often the punctuation is not used in appropriate places.

interesting book.

interesting book but the voice doesn't help too much. A more expressive voice would be nice

Basic EI concept, horrible narrator

I don't mind the concepts and somewhat of a repeat for anyone that has learned anything about EI in the past. The narrator has kind of awkward tempo, it makes listening difficult. In addition, the voice was somewhat high pitched, and very easily, the reading would be come background noise, very difficult to focus on the story.

Great High Level Overview of EI

The narrator takes a few odd pauses here and there but speaks clearly and at a good pace. The book gave a nice high-level overview of Emotional Intelligence and is a good starting point for those looking to learn about the skill.

Not great reading

Good concepts but the reader is a little difficult to listen to. Weird pauses in the middle of sentences make or hard to follow. H s got some sort note system and you can hear keyboard clicks through the whole article. But the concepts are good and good info to have.

worst audio book i have heard

This was the worst audio book I have heard. I have read several other books by Daniel Goleman and I appreciated the content of this book, the stilted performance mixed with bad editing made it almost impossible to understand the thought process of the book. I would recommend this title but I would suggest reading it and not listening to it.
