It's amazing

I highly recommend listening this book. It will help you understand yourself and everyone around you, and why you and they behave the way you/they do. It's amazing and explains not only the scientific background, information about the brain, but then, how that translates into thinking and behaviors. Emotional Intelligence truly is the most important and it is what creates a safe, happy relationship, family, home-life, community, workplace etc., versus the opposite! This is important for you, your family/children, co-workers/bosses, etc. Everyone should listen this book!

Already achieved part of its stated goal

Emotional Intelligence has already achieved part of its stated goal, in that the concept has become an accepted and assumed part of our cultural view. For those of us, like myself, who are slow to read this work and get on the bandwagon, the audio book is a decent enough start, but the abridgment just feels like it cut too much. Still a good introductory work, especially for the average commuter.

Required listening for my Emotional Intelligence class at the school of business. I wish more people would listen this and work on increasing their EQ. Easy to understand and helpful.

A lot of scientifically based

I honestly thought on this book I was going to find a lot of scientifically based advice on how to behave in situations where my emotions go out of control but found myself reading a book that though informative did not meet my expectations in terms of utility for my personal life. I do consider though it is a good foundational book to start building on my emotional literacy.

Excellent book on the softer skills

Excellent book on the softer skills that many of us technical people haven't developed. The book introduces you to these skills, explains why they are useful and provides instruction on how to develop them. This book is a must for the average technician or professional that wants to progress up the ladder of success or learn how to connect with people better.

I definately recommend this book.

I'm definately a negative person. I knew I had to change that, so I bought a couple of books to help me with this (not a fan of psychologist in the flesh), anyways. The book is self-explanatory. It gives you insight on how you brain functions and a great deal of tips to encounter your better self when solving problems, discussing with people, appealing to your good side always. True many parts of the book was to technical, but that's because when you don't know why something works like that, the author tries to teach the listener how that works. I definately recommend this book.

Real justification

I absolutely loved this book because, before this book, there was real justification on why people would have to consider feelings or emotions in the workforce or even in everyday relationships with various people. In my youth, I had been taught - much like other people, to 'keep your emotions in check'. To me, there has never been a book before this one to guide us on how to handle emotions maturely and therefore, constructively and progressively for the benefit every type of relationship. Therefore, I believe this book is a must-read no matter what your take or level of emotional intelligence is

Go off the rails

When you understand it is so much easier to cope with (these) emotions. And also means you can to help the other people around you with there emotional issues. In addition, it helps to understand why people 'go off the rails' and how to help that not to happen

Interesting listen

Interesting listen. I found this book very engaging and easy to read through. Keep in mind this is a science based book that presents information and concepts. This is not a self help book. Good for those who want to learn more about how the brain works as it relates to emotions. A very insightful look into how our emotions, and our ability to monitor and control them, can determine the quality of our lives.

This book is an amazing asset

Emotions rule our lives and if we don't learn how to control them, they will control us. Reading this book has taught me that I lack emotional intelligence and I didn't even know it! I always thought I had a firm grasp on my emotions but reading Justin's book really opened my eyes. I have come to realize that my emotions are not in check as much as I thought they were, and the emotional intelligence that I do have is limited. If I don't continue to exercise my emotional intelligence muscle, it will begin to atrophy. This book is an amazing asset and a must read - highly recommended!

What a fantastic book!

What a fantastic book, Patty Morgan! It was the first book I read on emotional intelligence, a practice I had little-to-no knowledge of. The principles and concepts of EQ are described in such a basic, yet interesting way. It made self improvement almost a no-brainer. And even though I struggle every day to increase my emotional intelligence, it’s a path I’m glad to be on. Thank you!

This book explains EQ clearly

Before I read this book, 😁 😁 I didn't think I knew much about emotional intelligence... But the truth is, EQ (or the lack of it) runs all of our lives! This book explains EQ clearly, while relating it to real-life experiences and everyday situations. EQ Applied is intriguing, real, and even humorous at times! Reading this book gave me an opportunity to take back some control in my life - instead of letting emotions run me. This is a MUST READ - you will love it!

This is a marvelous book

This is a marvelous book. It is very well researched but it also suggests ways that you can immediately improve your EQ and apply it in real world situations. It is clear that emotional intelligence is one of the most important skills needed for success in the work life and in our personal life. People respond to stimuli emotionally before they respond intellectually. That is why this book is so important. I found the chapter on feedback especially helpful. You will learn many important skills from this book.

Scientifically accurate

Well explained and scientifically accurate, 😁 this book boils down the current state of understanding regarding intelligence and shows why emotional intelligence is so closely linked to your success in business, relationships, and life. Lots of people don't realize it but EQ really is more important than IQ. .thanks
