Publisher's Summary

Have you ever had a situation in which you struggled to understand something from the other person’s perspective, and in failing to consider that perspective, you entirely missed the point and ended up in an argument?

Perhaps you and your spouse had conflicting needs and neither was willing to concede. Perhaps you failed to empathize with your child, who broke into tears when you seemed emotionally indifferent toward the plight that threatened to overwhelm.

Maybe you did not care to see the perspective of a coworker, and the two of you ended up clashing, saying things you regretted after the fact, and locked in a conflict that disturbed the office dynamic. No matter the specific scenario, if you struggle to understand other people’s perspectives, you could be struggling with a very important set of skills that dictate how we behave with other people and respond to emotions: Emotional intelligence.

Every time you interact with people, you use a combination of skills that fit within five categories. These skills either make or break you - leading to you either interacting quite well, meshing with those people around you, and earning rapport and respect, or causing you to fail the interactions altogether by behaving in ways that are not socially acceptable. You may have lost your temper, failed to empathize with the other person, or simply just came across as unpleasant. If you struggle through your social interactions on a regular basis, you could need to strengthen your emotional intelligence. If this sounds like you or someone you know, this guide is here for you!

With a combination of easily understood explanations, relatable examples, and several charts to simplify concepts, this guide seeks to guide you on your journey toward developing better emotional intelligence skills. If you want to learn more about how Emotional Intelligence can improve your life..then simply get this audiobook now to get started.

A very thorough definition.

Great information throughout, maybe so repetitive on purpose as repetition is the father of learning but came across as drawn out. At the very end of the book the conclusion is basically “that is the definition of emotional intelligence, improving yours will benefit you, if you want to increase yours read more books, including another in this series” and it wasn’t until then that I realized this was an introduction to EQ, not a practical guide to it. For that you have to read A Practical Guide to EQ, which makes sense but that’s what I thought the first one was, ya know? 4/5. Good for what it is, but it’s not what I thought it was.

Waste of time

This book was awful I couldn’t even finish it. The first two sections were just him defining words that are common knowledge and then explaining why this information is useful. I feel like this book is going to self select for people who think this information will be useful so why waste pages trying to convince us? Then getting to the actual advice section, it will only be helpful if you are completely lost on any idea of what it means to control yourself. I can’t believe they took the time to explain that people shouldn’t steal money out of someone’s wallet. Honestly this was a waste of money it’s not worth it.

It causes you to begin or in the groove again.

What I like the most is how straightforward things are clarified in this book recording. A few stunts are all around characterized and can do thinks about whether applied appropriately. Must tune in for the individuals who are confronting opposition in close to home or expert life

Easy to listen, understand and inspire.

I checked out a lot of books on emotional intelligence and none of them quite met up with the easy listening and understanding.

Basic Introduction to EQ

The narrator was good , I found parts of the book in site full and I will definitely go back to listen to it again. Best way to describe the book is it's a basic introduction to the concepts of E.Q. but doesn't really dive into the practices and exercises to develop E.Q. Guess that's for another book.

Good book

Great book - just wish the narrative was a little more coherent overall. Quite a few decent sections and overall it will improve my outlook going forward.
