Publisher's Summary

One rightful vampire queen. Five irresistible vampire men. Together, they'll sever the crown - or maybe the traitor's head that wears it.

Wren has a dark obsession - to find her mother's murderers before they find her. Every new singing gig brings her closer to crossing their names from her list.

When a detective shows up with a new lead, she jumps at the chance with fangs bared.

But to get the info they need, they’ll have to bust someone out of jail.

Sure. No problem.

Ashe has just been framed for high crimes against the Southern Vampire Clan - but he’s not exactly innocent either.

While waiting for his fate, a five-pointed star tattoo appears on his wrist, similar to the tattoo of a stunning platinum-haired vampire. The sudden attraction between them is undeniable. Better yet, she's just offered to free him.

Sounds like a great deal. So what's the catch?

Turns out, as their enemies close in, the catch could very well be their lives.

Emergence is a paranormal royal why-choose romance in the Sever the Crown series. Wren connects with another of her men in each book - and learns how their fates are all intricately intertwined. Each book ends in a cliffhanger.

Join the revolution!

You Mean . . . I'm Not the Only One?

I enjoyed the well-acted audio version, and can highly recommend it. Plenty of snark, humor, and action and, um, "undercover" action (in both senses) to go around in this fast-paced tale of discovery and revenge. BUT be aware you are signing on for the long haul. As the description warns you, there are five parts to this story and each ends in a cliff-hanger. But with that knowledge in front of you, there is plenty of meat into which to sink your teeth (okay, really bad vamp pun) and plenty to look forward to.

Good start to a vampire RH series

This is my first book by these authors. The book for me was a little confusing in the beginning. There were 3 different story lines at first and I had a hard time keeping up with what was going on. You have a human Zack who seems like he knows the most about what’s going on although I’m still not sure why or how with him. The MFC who is the daughter of the deceased queen who has a bounty on her head by the current queen because she’s wanting to get rid of the rightful queen. Finally we have her first mate. They feel the mate bond right away so the cliffhanger at the end of this book in regards to her 2nd mate is still a little confusing because neither of them felt anything in their first meeting. Although it took a while to figure out what was going on, I suggest to stick with it. Hopefully the next book in the series will release on audible soon.

RH Vamps

I am a longtime fan of the vampire genre, so I am always looking for the next great new book. However, I have to say that I didn't realize that this book was a Reverse Harem book. I will try to review the book fairly even though I am definitely not a fan of RH books.

Wren is a vampire, working as a singer while trying to avenge her mother's death. A "detective" named Zac comes to the club where she is working and tells her that she needs to go with him. So, she does (Huh?). The pair then proceed to break another vampire out of a vampire prison (why?).

Immediately, this vampire (Ash) and Wren are in instalust. I mean, their every encounter is full of thoughts about sex. Wren soon learns that she and Ash are mates and she has a mark on her wrist that indicates that she has a total of 5 mates.

The premise of the book was a good one. Wren was raised by her mother and is totally unaware that there are any other vampires in existence. She learns that her Mother was in fact the Queen of a vampire sector and she is the heir apparent. And, she has five mates.

The plot of the story had way too many holes in it and it definitely is part of an ongoing series. There is no resolution to any of the various events that occur in the book.

The book is full of way too much cursing IMHO and the F-bomb is freely dropped from the very beginning. I'm no prude, but enough is enough. Then, there is the constant sexual references and sex scenes. Again, I should have read the full description and realized that this was a RH book.

The narrator did a great job and her voices were perfect for the different characters. If you are a fan of vampires and reverse harems, you might enjoy this book, but I'll pass on the rest of the series.

Great paranormal story

Love the vampire genre and was super excited to try out some new authors to me. I was not disappointed. I am anxious to see how the human man falls into the mix of her paranormal harem or if he isn't in it at all. Loved book one, on to the next one in the series.

Not your average vampire book...

This book surprised me. I was expecting the typical supernatural story with a dash of “young woman just making her way in the big bad world.” However, between the witty and sarcastic repartee , and the narration, I found myself listening straight through in one day. On to book two!

A great story for Vampire and Reverse Harem Lovers

The story is very very intriguing. I thought this would really bore me but I was wrong. It's intense and that voice is very very much sexy. i never knew I would like hearing the narrator's voice. I just hope they'll finish the 3 remaining audiobooks soon. I like reading ebook but audiobooks are my thing as of this year haha.

This was an amazing read! I loved every moment of it. I've read the books, eBook and audio versions.
Well written storyline as well as well written characters. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Enjoyable

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The storyline was unique, at least to me. The characters are quite likeable. The narrator was good, but it was slightly difficult to tell when she transitioned POVs. I am definitely interested in reading more!

4.5

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this. It's not particularly deep and I was expecting the heroine to meet all of her mates here, but it looks like it will be one per book. Despite that, I laughed several times, thought the writing sharp, and I liked the characters. Plus, the narrator did an excellent job, which always contributes. I've borrowed the rest of the series through Amazon Prime now. We'll see if I like them as much when reading them, instead of listening.

Note: I received an Audible code for a copy of this book. I chose to listen and review it.

Off to a good start

This was a cool concept for many reasons. I *am* a fan of the reverse-harem genre, so that worked for me. The way the potential mates identified each other was unique & interesting. I’m interested to see how that keeps going. The entire premise of the leading lady has both potential & plot holes for me. There were also other areas that I need more information about; however, this is a series, so I’m willing to wait on some of that hoping it will be fleshed out further along. This definitely wrapped up one story & left a “to be continued” vibe without the dreaded cliffhanger, so a big Thank You! to the authors for that!

Plot driven, slow burnFirst of all, Melissa Schwai

First of all, Melissa Schwairy's voice talent in this audiobook is truly excellent. I love her accent and her ability to switch between male and female characters convincingly.
She really gave this book an added dimension and brought it to life for me.

The book is slow going in the harem build, with only one firm member of her harem bagged by the end of the book but it does have some bedroom scenes (and shower scenes!) but it makes up for it in action and character development.

Wren has been on the run her entire life but is only just starting to find out who she is and what her role could be in vampire society, something she never knew existed. She's used to fighting to defend herself but now the stakes (ha. stakes.) are higher and she has to fight for her future and her mate.

This is some well written and enjoyable urban fantasy, heavy on the court intrigue and suspense.

Really like where this is going...

First of all, cliffhanger alert for those who need the warning...

This is a great well rounded story! I really enjoyed the character build and look forward to seeing where things go in the next book!

Great narration to boot. Looking forward to sinking my teeth into the next installment!

Ok Vampire Reverse Harem Novel

I don't know really what to say about this audiobook, I'm on the fence. It's well written and have a good pace, the characters are likable. The execution was good, but the story... It's unremarkable that I felt like I was listening any other audiobook of the same genre (whychoose paranormal). There is nothing unique about the story, the character's actions seem to came straight of high school. If it wasn't for the love scenes, I would say it's was a YA.

Melissa Schwairy did a good job with what she had in hands. I cringe a lot of times, but it wasn't her fault really, she just follow the characters emotions and reactions. I would like a male narrator for the guy's, but the narrator was able to do a different voice for each character.

Fantastic Story & Narration🎧Fascinating & Riveting

I loved everything about this book, from Mysti Parker & Lindsey R. Loucks’ writing style to the fascinating story and characters they created to Melissa Schwairy’s fabulous narration. The story is original with interesting and imaginative storylines that captivated my attention from start to end. There is great world building and character development. The characters are likable, easy to relate to and connect with. I adored the lead, Wren, a lone vampire who is on a mission to avenge the brutal murder of her mother. It was always just her and her Mom, she was young when her Mother was killed but she survived on her own because her Mom taught her well. Incognito she performs in a bar under a different identity, Melody Songsmith, she is about to get one of her Mom’s killers but she attracts the attention of another who claims he wants the same as her, to find those responsible for her mother’s death. Wren takes a leap of faith and trusts Zac, she has not been in the know of things and has a lot to learn. She and Zac help get Ashe out of prison, he was falsely accused of two different crimes, someone seriously wanted him locked up. Things get even more weird for Zach and Wren, matching tattoos appear on their wrists. Is this fate, were they destined to be together, she then learns she is destine to more than one mate. Making matters even more complicated she finds out her Mother was the Queen of The Southern Vampire clan, she had gone into hiding with Wren for their safety. Now some is after Wren, the same people who tried to keep her and Ashe apart and possible the same who are responsible for her mother’s death. My guess is Ravena, the now reigning Queen and an Aunt Wren never knew she had. This book is an awesome start to an amazing series, the story is cleverly potted and there is never a dull moment. There is plenty of drama, a bit of angst, some great, snarky humor, action, twists and turns, some thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt moments and some hot romance. Mysti Parker & Lindsey R. Loucks, thank you for this fantastic story, I am looking forward to what comes next for these amazing characters.

Melissa Schwairy is a fabulous narrator and voice artist. She brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. She does an amazing job portraying the characters, giving them that southern charm and capturing their persona to a tee. She is great with the dialogue and snark too. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen🎧

Excellent!

I received this book free for a honest review.

Wren has been going around the country playing gigs whilst catching up and killing the men who killed her mother.
One night she is approached by Zack a detective who tells her he has a new lead she takes off with him tentatively.
He tells her they have to break Ashe out of a high security vampire prison where’s he been framed for crimes against the Souther Vampire Clan. Wren notices she has a 5 pointed star on her wrist that starts to tingle the nearer she gets to Ashe and whilst Ashe is waiting for his fate the same sign appears on his wrist.
Zack informs her she has to connect with her 5 mates and that she is the rightful Vampire Queen and her mother was killed in a power play to take over the throne by her aunt who is still on the throne . They have to keep ahead of enemies out to kill them and a bounty hunter who’s just out for the money she will bring that is until he lets her go but she doesn’t want to face the reason why he did that.
Wren is such a headstrong but likeable FMC and her interactions with Zack made me think he might be one of her consorts but he’s not a Vampire , her interactions with Ashe are explosive from the start and the sexual tension just jumps out at you.

Action packed vampire romance

I loved this book, it was fast paced and action packed with a killer conspiracy plot that grabbed my attention right from the beginning, before I knew it I had finished and was desperate for the next book. There were so many twists and turns it keeps you on your toes, and a lot of hidden memories for Wren to recover, and through it all I was left wondering what part Zack was playing, who is he to Wren? I need the next book!! Melissa Schwairy's narration was wonderful as always.

The True Vampire Queen

I received the audiobook in exchange for a honest review. If you are looking for a book with adventure, suspense, a lot of twists and turns and Vampires, this is the book for you. Ren/Melody is a strong, independent vampiress who grew up on her own because her mother was murdered. She slowly gains memories of her past. Zach is the human who knows who she is and who she is to become and diligently protects her on the journey. Ash is the first of her mates that was wrongly accused of her mother's murder and was incarcerated in a cement prison. And fedora is the vampire private detective that set up Ash and is the second mate found. This book had me trying to figure out what other position Zach is to play. This fast pace exciting story ends in a cliff hanger that had me tearing my hair out. I can't wait for book 2 to continue this intriguing path the four will face. I recommend listening to this audiobook and finding out what happens next. Great book. You will also love the southern drawl of Melissa Schwairy, the narrator.

Brought the book to life

I always worry when a book I’ve really enjoyed is released on audio in case the story is spoiled by the narration. Definitely not the case this time. The narrator really brought the characters to life. Not for a younger audience due to the adult language and scenes. If you enjoy a good reverse harem series, this is definitely one to add to your library
