I. Loved. This. Book. So. Much
S.D. Smith has once again written a masterpiece of words that makes you want to laugh, cry, and cheer all at once. With scenes where I was on the edge of my seat and holding my breath or reeling with shock and disbelief, I was thoroughly entertained.
Joel Clarkson’s narrating was superb, giving each character their own individuality and personality. Thanks to him, I have each character’s voice locked inside my head.
I also loved seeing each character growing more and more with the story, and I’m eagerly awaiting to see how they turn out in future books. And there was well-placed plot twists and surprises that left me tangled in a conflicting storm of emotions.
Overall, I immensely enjoyed this book. 5/5. Now, I’m off to get the next few books!

Incredible sequel - darker, deeper, soaring story.
From 30 years old down to two, as a family we laughed, cheered, gasped and had tears in our eyes throughout. The narrator does the musical parts and various voices very well. The storyline is just masterful - I honestly can't think of as beautifully crafted a tale in recent times. The cliffhanger is a killer, though - we need more!

I have just finished listening to Ember Falls with my 8 year old daughter and we both loved it!! Totally gripped throughout. I highly recommend this book; it is exciting, full of passion, bravery, and adventure. I loved the narration too...just hope that there will be more books coming out after Black Star...we have listened to all 3 now....though on the plus side, my daughter and I may actually chat in the car rather than hit play to listen to the next instalment!! 😂😂
