Publisher's summary

His marine training taught him that failure is never an option regardless of circumstances. That certainly applies to Chad's need to stop Lost and Found's deranged client from using the information he gathered to stalk and abuse his ex. Falling in love with the broken woman and her sweet daughter in the middle of rescuing them is definitely not the best timing. But it's also inevitable.

In book three of this heartwarming military romance series, Chad will discover that protecting Lora is a much easier task than proving he's the one man she can finally trust with her heart.

Weeks of no incriminating evidence should have clued him in sooner about who was the real victim. Now Chad Lowell is wracked with guilt after the woman he's assigned to investigate is attacked by her abusive ex-husband right under his nose. Lora and her little girl are in incredible danger, and he vows to protect them at all costs, whether the angry and hurt woman wants him to or not. His marine training makes the protecting part easy, but nothing he does seems to make Lora want to take a chance on him or his love.

Lora O'Neil left a life of abuse to make a new start for herself and her daughter. When her ex hires Lost and Found Investigative Service to track her down, she's left reeling both physically and emotionally. The private detective that had been watching her for the past couple of months did finally come to her rescue, but does that mean she should now trust him to help her turn their lives around? The sexy former marine makes her body feel things she thought she'd never feel for a man again, but she just can't imagine what it would take for her to heal enough to ever say yes.

Touching story

A very touching story about disable vets adjusting back into a civilian life before they were ready. The story focuses on how this vet finds a place to belong with his job and the love of a woman to overlook his injuries. The woman has problems with her ex and the vet helps her out. Great story I have enjoyed the series very much and recommend the series.

Awedome

This series is stacking up to be one of my favorites. JM Madden has done a great job of linking the strength and fortitude of veterans with thoughtfulness and consideration for others; serving up the ideal man. The characters are interesting, the plots entertaining, and the romance builds to a bonfire in every novel.

Best of the Series, so far..

I thought this book was very good as I listened to the narration. With previous books in the series, I felt like certain aspects of the story line ended abruptly, as well as some of the endings. I really felt like I received a full and complete story with this book. The things that were left unanswered, were things that I could see as another story, or a part of another person's story. Answers were given and subplots were completed in this book.

This book began with a high level of intensity. There was a good deal of action in this book as well. I liked that Chad and Laura's relationship developed slowly in the book. Laura was cautious not only with herself, but her daughter, Merci.

Both Laura and Chad were battling their own demons. I had great admiration for both of them, especially trying to forge a relationship with one another. I would flinch along with Laura when someone would come close to her. I could feel that flinch, that hesitation, the wariness. I could empathize with Chad and how he had to endure people's reaction to him. The author was able to clearly help the audience understand what the characters were going through.

I think Chad and Laura also had great chemistry. Adding her daughter into the mix made this a winner. The tension Laura felt trying to protect her daughter and running from her ex-husband was palpable. The buildup of sexual tension was something I didn't pick up in previous books. Chad's love and concern for both Merci, and Laura was gentle as well as consistent. This was 4.5 stars for me.

After Zeke's book, I wasn't sure I was going to continue with the series, but Embattled Home brought me back into the fold. I love the narration, but I have also turned into an Eric G. Dove fan. I am looking forward not only to Duncan's story, but also Harper's, Aidan's, and maybe Rachel's if she has one.

Just as awesome as the ebook and print book

Love this series and being able to listen to them while driving to and from work is just awesome. This is a great way for me to revisit old friends and enjoy their stories again. The author does an awesome job writing about wounded warriors and the narrator does an outstanding job of bringing the characters to life. This is a must listen series

Beautifully narrated with a smooth flowing cadence. JM Madden’s book Embattled Home will leave you wanting to listen to more of her books.
