Publisher's summary

Sam may be the Iblis, but she is also an imp with a price on her head. The powerful demon, Haagenti, won't rest until she's dragged back to Hel for "punishment". Sam knows she can't face Haagenti and win, so when an Elf Lord offers to eliminate the demon in return for her help, Sam jumps at the chance. It's a simple job - find and retrieve a half-breed monster dead or alive. But finding this demon/elf hybrid isn't proving easy and time is running out.

Fun read!

I really enjoy this series. I love the characters and the universe they populate. In true keeping with the genre, the narrating character speaks only for herself and what she observes. There is no unexplained omniscience or switching of points of views. I appreciate this as it helps keep me immersed. The reader doesn't know anything the character doesn't know. This increases the illusion of actually experiencing the events of the book with the main character rather than just reading about it. Great fun!

No spoilers

Great series. MS Dunbar has done a fantastic job at writing a really good series. Set in a world with all kinds of characters, suspense, and laughter. The narration of MS Ryan was done very well a truly good story teller. Highly recommend.

Great book... Sound editing was annoying

I'm enjoying this series a lot. The book was great can't wait for another. I laughed so hard when she admitted to wearing a decapitated head she was studying, on top of hers when no one was there. That moment sticks out.

Narrator is good, but whoever cut it up and put 7-10 second pauses between each damn thought needs a smack to the head. It was very distracting. I thought the app shut off a couple times when she just stopped talking... Nope. Just bad editing. A lot of times you'd hear the narrator swallow in those pauses, also.

I still listened and finished it happily. I would still recommend.

I LOVE this series!

First I’ll say that I’ve read the whole series on kindle but when I saw that they were on audible too, I jumped at the chance to revisit this amazing series. I love Sam and all her crazy antics. She’s exactly what I think a real imp would be like. Seeing her grow and become stronger as an imp (and as the Ha-Satan) is so much fun. All of her characters have depth to the point that you really want to know that they will be okay or make the right decisions. I’m loving getting to know them all again! I really, really like Angela Rysk as a narrator. The deep male voices are a little funny, but I love her demon voices. She has a unique tone that adds fun and sass to her characters. There are occasional weird pauses in odd places that threw me off every now and then but otherwise I just can’t say enough good things about both the book and the narration. Keep ‘me coming!!

Love it-give me the next one....

What did you love best about Elven Blood?

I love that this FEMALE demon is straight forward, frank and to the point. As a different species she sees things in a simple and more logic way, which reminds me of European cultures. No fluff, no read between the lines or 'take a hint'...just straight to the point!!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of Elven Blood?

I loved the more detailed introduction of her foster-brother and sister demons, which made them more relateable as well. Already love Sam the way she is by now but now we also enjoy the different layers of skill and talent of her demon siblings. And of course, love the pure and simple romance they have going where I often forget that they are different species and yet the beauty of that shines through as well!

What does Angela Rysk bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I just love that 1. they picked someone new for this series, 2. totally different to other readers....I admit I had to get used to her in the first book but by the end I was hooked.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, absolutely! I could not get enough of it.

Any additional comments?

Series is growing on me.

Can a demon learn to curb her darker side? Sam does have a hard time with this, she just wants to have fun, but the angels, demons, elves and humans keep demanding her time, energy, and blood. If it can go wrong, it will. This book isn't quite as funny as the last book, but the boom stick part was my favorite. The world building is intriguing and events have spiraled out of control for Sam, plus her to do list keeps getting longer and longer. This series is not for everyone. There are a few distasteful parts that could turn you off the story, luckily the plot gets better over time and this story is about a demon. I did end up listening to the story on fast speed because the narrator was so slow that it drove me nuts. I normally can ignore the narrator flaws, all but being slow this puts me to sleep.

Elven Blood rocks, little cockroach changing!

Samantha keeps changing little by little until she faces her fears with the help of her friends, even though she still retains her humorous ways of being an imp.
