Publisher's summary

This book on Egyptian mythology is part of the best-selling series, Norse Mythology - Egyptian Mythology - Greek Mythology. In this ultimate guide on Egyptian mythology, you will discover captivating stories of the gods, goddesses, monsters, and mortals.

In this audiobook, you will also find factual history as well as insightful information regarding Egyptian mythology.

This audiobook is broken into three parts:

  • Fantastic Images - Ancient Egyptian myths and legends as we know them today
  • Factual History - Covering pre-history through classical antiquity
  • Unraveling Myth - Looking at Egyptian mythology from a fresh perspective

This audiobook is jam-packed with fascinating facts and stories. For instance, it covers perhaps the most popular of all the Egyptian stories - the myth of Osiris. Pieces of this story have been found throughout Egypt. One of the most appealing aspects of the Osiris myth is the human-like behavior of the gods within the story. Many of the other gods of the Egyptian pantheon were rather emotionless and their stories far less interesting. With the Osiris story, the gods display a broad range of emotions that made them more real to mere mortals.

Just some of the questions and topics covered in this audiobook include:

  • Egypt in context
  • Creation
  • Fall of humanity
  • Osiris myth
  • Chief gods of the egyptian pantheon
  • Lesser known pantheon
  • Secrets of Giza - sphinx and pyramids
  • King list
  • Ancient Egyptian history
  • Classical antiquity
  • Dragons and other creatures
  • Osiris, Isis, Seth and Horus
  • The meaning of myth

No lo vale

No el que esperaban, muy pocas historias y mitos, es más una lista de dioses

It’s a compilation of facts & myths, but not many stories

If you’re a factoid, you’ll love this book. As a person trying to get an idea of Egyptian gods, I found it lacking. It was dry & the author poured over long fact sheets of gods & Egypt’s past rulers. When finishing the book, I was as confused as ever about Egypt’s past.

Both interesting and strange

The information given at first was very interesting. The list of gods got pretty dull as they were just listed off. When it got into prehistoric sky ships and camera drones from lost technology of Atlantis, well... I had a hard time not laughing at the absurdity of it.

Given other reviews, I expected more....

Meh - That's how I can best describe this - meh. JD Kelly seemed to rush the narration and I don't really blame him given how dry the text was. This audiobook was based on mythology and yet the first section there was droning on and on about climate change in ancient times. I'm sure it was/is interesting to someone, just not for me. I really wanted to like it!

nice book

I really enjoy this book. It's explained as a story which makes it funner, and easier to understand! It is for beginners or even children. I'm 21 and don't mind listening it one bit. It's knowledgeable and has well so you can see what they're supposed to look like.

five stars

While I wish they used Egyptian rubrics for the artistic depictions, it does a good job of introducing Egyptian mythology without being overly graphic (for example, it doesn't say which of the pieces of Usir was missing). I love that they use the Egyptian names instead of the Greek, as well

i love this book

: this is a great book that I highly recommend, and even though she left out quite a few gods, I think the ones she left out aren't completely needed. Also, the added feelings and thoughts give more life to the story, making it more engaging for older listeners. I think that you'll love this book.
