This “Eerie Fairy Tale” is about choices we make in life, about their consequences, and about priorities.
In our lives, we must make choices. When we say someone chooses for us, we simply transfer the responsibility to someone stronger and more aggressive, to a leader, to surrounding people, to circumstances, to fate, to destiny. This is a choice though.
What does it lead to? Does it provide an opportunity for a happy and carefree life? What are the consequences?
When one makes a choice of a wrong way, makes a deal with a devil or supports the devil’s actions, or silently observes the crimes are happening but gets his benefits of it, he is also an accomplice of those actions. One day it could happen that, his choice pulled the tragedy.
The truth of life is that there is no black and white, but everyone will have to pay for his actions.
The tale has a double meaning; it was written in September 2022 under the influence of the announcement of mobilization in the russian federation to continue the war against Ukraine. Therefore, there is a direct analogy here: the woman is the people of russia, and her husband is putin/the government, her family is the people of Ukraine.
*russia is deliberately written with a small letter in order to express disrespect for the aggressor country.
