When Maya Hartwell takes a break from her high-profile law career to vacation in the picturesque Landsfield Ridge, she expects relaxation, not mystery. But when she hears of a missing teenager from the area, her curiosity is piqued. As a tenacious attorney with a track record of solving complex cases, Maya can't resist the urge to dig deeper. Despite her legal prowess, Maya quickly discovers that the townsfolk are less than forthcoming about the missing teen.

As she persists in her investigation, she starts to receive threats—but Maya is no stranger to danger, having served as a marine before becoming a lawyer. Instead of scaring her off, this only hardens her resolve. With the help of Wren, the head librarian, Maya uncovers a cold case that has plagued Landsfield Ridge for years. It becomes clear that someone in town is hiding a dark secret, one that they would rather leave buried in the past. Maya is determined to get to the bottom of things, even if it means putting herself in harm's way.

In this gripping tale of small-town secrets and personal redemption, Maya must navigate a treacherous web of lies and deceit to solve the mystery of the missing teenager. Will she be able to uncover the truth before it is too late?

A binge-worthy mystery packed with suspense and revelations that will keep you listening. Echoes of the Past is the first in the new Mystery/Attorney Gabby Black series.

This was a well done mystery that built its tension well. You start off with Maya, an attorney who gets intrigued by the case of a missing teenager. It was well done, her going off on solo adventures but also having someone to come back to to talk things over. I really enjoyed each reveal, they were always a surprise (not a detective in the making here) but I could always find the carefully laid details after. Overall a perfect small town mystery!

Suspenseful!

This is a great mystery cold case that pulls you in on the first page and keeps you guessing until the end. The heroine is smart, and like most of us, she's working too much. She takes a vacation that puts her in a small town with a missing girl and a history that she can't ignore. The author does a great job with the characters from the teenager who can't be bothered to the librarian who wants to help. You'll be sad when the book ends and ready to go to book two!

Great cold case story!
