About this listen

“Like her music, Marina's written work is laced with brilliant and bold wordplay throughout.”—Cosmopolitan

For the first time, platinum-certified singer-songwriter Marina shares her singular observations of the human heart through poetry; this collection is essential.

Marina’s talent for powerful, evocative song lyrics finds a new outlet in her poetry. Each poem resonates with the same creative melodies and emotional depth that have made her an artistic sensation. Hailed by The New York Times for “redefining songs about coming of age, and the aftermath, with bluntness and crafty intelligence,” Marina delves even further into trauma, youth, and the highs and lows of relationships in these profound, autobiographical poems to form a collection that transcends the boundaries of music and literature.

Critic reviews

“The book chronicles Diamandis’s late teens through her mid-30s, revisiting past wounds with her distinctive wit and the rich symbolism that is a cornerstone of her lyrical style. The collection blends introspection with storytelling, offering readers insight on her state of mind before fame and during much of her musical career.”—Vanity Fair

“MARINA delves deep into personal topics like trauma, love, eating disorders and her youth.”—PEOPLE

“Like the music, her poetry is by turns surreal and straight, packed with lines that start out sweet and quickly sour.”—The Sunday Times (London)

This impacted me so deeply. To hear heartaches, insecurities, and revelations I have discovered in my own life spoken so eloquently was a blessing and a gift.

Life changing

I loved how marina dices into her thoughts of what success is as well as the fears that compromised her happiness. It's a dark and gentle listening experience I'd highly recommend to anyone who's ever wonder what more their life can be.

Thank you for sharing this with us Marina. I really enjoyed listening to this one afternoon, and I'll come back to it again in the future for a relisten.

Marina’s voice and presence is so soothing, with her words touching on experiences that mirror your own; it is so reassuring and resonates so strongly- a powerful reminder that we are all in this together. She is someone when you see her you think “this woman has reached the summit of fame (and seemingly life!) who is so beautiful and radiates such power and beauty, and couldn’t possibly think same way I do” But there it all was. A mirror of my own experiences, and I’m sure many others’. Highly recommend

To me, Marina has always been a natural poet, as seen in her song lyrics. This transition to writing a collection of poems makes so much sense. They are beautiful, raw and deeply relatable, i absolutely loved it. A must listen if you’re already a fan. The narration was perfect!

A Natural Poet!

I loved how the book distorts some of the words and adds music or sounds behind the words. It added such an experience to the poetry which I think is amazing for poetry there is an emotional element you want to evoke and I think the distortion and sounds definitely helped. Great production!

Cool production

What is good poetry? Idk it really was wonderful to listen to on a snowy afternoon — and it was nothing like her albums. It was raw and authentic and I think that’s the best kinds of listens.

I am a fan of pop star poetry and this was it.
