Publisher's summary

Dying to Get Married is a modern day morality tale of the perversion of an American dream. Julie Miller was a successful executive, who, through a newspaper ad, met who she thought was "Mr. Right". Little did she know that he had a violent past and a predisposition for bizarre sexual rituals. This tragic true-crime tale will shock its horrified listeners.

interesting story that pulls in St. Louis & murder

Seemed to start slow but stay with it. It's a good storyline and captivating flow.

Just a little disorganized

This book seems just a little disorganized. It does tell the story, but some minor details are begun without followup.

Lee Ann Howlett performs competently. Of course, being true crime, there's not much to challenge her performance.

Dying to Get Married

This is a sad story of pain and arrogance. From the court documents and the witnesses it truly points to the direction of guilty. Dennis Bullock seemed to manipulate everything in his life all the way to the end of his trials. Poor Julie Miller was a naive and ill person who was taken advantage of right from the start and sadly died because of her wish to have a family of her own. Listeners get to hear about the trial and also main points in each of Dennis and Julie's lives before they meet. Giving some insight on their personalities and maybe why they do what they do. We will never know the truth of what really happened between these two and hopefully something like this will never happen again. This was also an interesting look at how some of the trial and police procedures were done during this time. Narrator Lee Ann Howlett speaks clearly and at a good pace keeping the narrative flowing.

Difficult to listen to this unfold,

Horribly harrowing, especially as it's made clear that the bad guy doesn't get convicted. I gave up halfway.

Not a fan of the reading.

While the book itself is a good read, I don’t know if I can finish this book because of the way it’s read. The interview portion is really terrible.

good story but sad

this was a good story but sad. this girl settled terribly. she took crumbs and for what? the man she married was worthless. it was a very sad story and no one should ever settle the way Julie did. I think this book could have been two hours shorter but it was still a good read.

A Really Sad Case

Wow, this one was upsetting, to say the least.
Not only is a young woman killed, but her reputation is dragged through the mud over and over afterwards.

I was not on the jury but I can't believe how it wrapped up.
I don't want to give any spoilers but it's really messed up.

Some people are so evil..............
Rip, Julie

As for the book, it was well written and narrated.
I received this at no charge by the author or publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank You!

A Snake In The Grass . . .

While this book does follow the events leading up to the death of Julie, it mainly focuses on her killer husband Dennis, and what a sneaky manipulating lying psychopath slimeball he was! Wow. With every single person he came into contact with it seems. Similar to witnessing a train wreck - I could not put this one down! I just HAD to know what he was going to do next. Does he truly get the punishment he deserves for his numerous evil deeds and actions? Right up to the very end I was gritting my teeth...the outcome isn’t what you would expect. What a story!

I was given this title in exchange for my honest opinion - - - This was hands down a three thumbs up book. I was MORE than surprised that it was this good. Thank you! :)

Sad but true

Dying to Get Married: The Courtship and Murder of Julie Miller Bulloch.
I found this book to be sad yet a riveting read, the tale of a vunerable woman whose need for love allows for a greedy unscrupulous man take advantage of her and murder her.
Well written and researched.
Lee Ann Howlett's narration is clear and concise, with due respect to the memory of Julie Miller.
