The small town of Fergus, Iowa is experiencing a dwindling population and a poor economic future. One woman, Ginny Rhinehart, the wife of a mortician, believes that the town needs an infusion of new and different people to save it. She begins posting on social media encouraging artists, musicians, and actors to come to Fergus to take advantage of the lower cost of living and to help revitalize the community. Ginny wants to turn Fergus into an arts mecca in rural Iowa. Influenced and charmed by Ginny’s videos, a diverse group of creative people start arriving in Fergus. This sets off a chain of events that leads to broken marriages, community unrest, and eventually to murder. Filled with colorful characters, this compelling story examines the challenges of how people with different values can coexist in our age.
