Chilling story!
This was all kinds of freaky!!! So creepy and chilling that it gave me nightmares. The summary above pretty much says it all so I'll get to my thoughts.
At the start I wasn't sure if this was a paranormal or what because it opens with seeing Dreg take a rite of passage as such. I initially thought they were werewolves and even now, I'm still not sure what he was, man or beast??
Dreg was one of the scariest, creepiest, freakiest character that I've read in a long long time. You definitely do NOT want to meet him in a dark alley, because it will be the last thing you do. He is so well written and developed that you can't help but be afraid of him. I know when I was listening to his parts, it gave me chills and I listened with the light on!!
Every character in this pretty much rocked. The author has a way that brings them all alive, though that may not be a good thing because there are 2 nasty serial killers in this!! I loved all of them though especially, Lucas, who is the psychic who is called in to help with the case and he finds himself dealing with something that he has never dealt with before. The mind of this killer is so bad, that Lucas himself can lose his mind! He was such a great character and easily likable. As was William. Poor William, my heart broke for his predicament but I admired his tenacity and spirit!!
The plot is fast paced and incredibly intense. It gripped me from the very first page and was relentless the whole way through!! I plugged in my headphones and pretty much listened to this non stop every chance I got! It was so hard to put down because you had to see what happened next. I do hope we haven't seen the last of Lucas though, because I'm sure there is more to his story!!
Andrew Start was fantastic as Dreg. His tone of voice portrayed Dregs insanity perfectly and he creeped me out when he was reading those parts. His pacing was spot on too!

Psychic detective and Supernatural serial killer
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Yes indeed, an enjoyable book. Very well narrated by Andrew Start though his style initially took a little getting used to.
Would you be willing to try another book from Terry M. West? Why or why not?
Definitely. If this book is anything to go by. He writes very very well and the story in this particular book was very well done.
Did Andrew Start do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Yes. As previously mentioned, I found his almost whispery reading style hard at first; but he does the various roles of the characters very well and distinctly.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Yes I do think I would.
Any additional comments?
Good story, gripping in places. Some scenes didn't hold back the blood and gore, not for the squimish. Having said that overall a well written story.
I received this book in return for an honest and fair review.

Psychic Hero vs Monster Killer
This is an edge if one's seat thriller/horror story. Dreg was trained by his father in accordance with their occult religion to be a serial killer and cannibal. He learned his lessons all to well and has been terrorizing a three state area for many years. Dreg also has psychic abilities,
Lucas is a psychic who assists police in finding missing children, His psychic abilities gives him an ongoing migraine headache and may also be the cause for his sterility. It causes Lucas great pain to use his psychic abilities plus it also physically exhausts him.
Dreg is known as the 'Keepsake Killer' and another serial killer that views Dreg as his model is following him. Dreg sees himself as a type of werewolf and views humans as 'meat' plus Dreg is seeking a mate to bear his cubs.
A terminally ill detective who has been chasing Dreg for years is working with Lucas to bring Dreg down.
The book is well written and narrated and is a high octane thriller. Dreg is a terrifying monstrous villain It is a book that will keep one's interest from start to finish.

Serial Killing Is A Way Of Life
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely, though I would be sure to preface that with a whole bunch of warnings about how bleak it appears at times and the horrific events that occur within.
What other book might you compare Dreg to and why?
I would compare it to The Devil All the Time as they're both horror/thriller type stories in southern communities, though in this case the southern is a little less a big part of it.
What about Andrew Start’s performance did you like?
I liked pretty much all of it, he was understandable even when doing Dreg's voice and did a good job of varying it between the other characters so it sounded like there were several people doing the performance of one.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Keepsakes Mean Different Things to Different People
Any additional comments?
I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a horror/thriller, an inventive serial killer book, or who's just open minded enough to try anything.

GOOD HORROR
"This audiobook was provided by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost in exchange for an unbiased review courtesy of AudiobookBlast dot com." I listened to it in 2 days (would have loved to complete it in 1 day if I did not have other commitments as it was hard to leave it).I found it to be a good horror/thriller/suspense book all in one and left me wanting more. Such as what became of Lucas and Tammy both seem to have psychic abilities, is Dreg truly dead and had the evil demonic powers released and whom to. How about a sequel? Terry M. West has become one of my best authors to read or listen to, he covers all, psychopaths, creatures, supernatural, blood and gore, even some comedy. It was well worth listening to don’t miss it. Also look into some of his other books.
