Publisher's summary

Dreams of Awakening is a thorough and exciting exploration of lucid dreaming theory and practice within both Western and Tibetan Buddhist contexts. It not only explores lucid dreaming practices, but also the innovative new techniques of mindfulness of dream and sleep, the holistic approach to lucidity training which the author co-created. The book is based on over 12 years of personal practice and the hundreds of lucid dreaming workshops which Charlie has taught around the world, in venues as diverse as Buddhist temples and dance music festivals. Using a three-part structure of ground, path, and germination the listener is given a solid grounding in:

  • The history and benefits of lucid dreaming
  • Cutting-edge research from dream and sleep scientists
  • Entering the path of learning to do the practices
  • Prophetic dreams, lucid living, out of body experiences and quantum dreaming

Although Dreams of Awakening presents many different angles on how to make the 30 years we spend asleep more worthwhile, the fundamental aim of the book is to teach people how to lucid dream their way to psychological and spiritual growth. This book is for all those who want to wake up, both in their dreams and waking lives.

Interesting Concepts

I really enjoyed the book. I would have enjoyed it more with the stories of the dreams intermixed instead of all at the end in the appendix though.

I am dreaming blissfully.

I have been doing lucid dreaming for over 25 years and I never once knew that we can meditate which is like a fast track to meditation levels, or learn to meet our higher self Or my favorite is healing our body in lucid dreaming. I will never waste another lucid dream again this book was eye opening and I love the narrator as well. I highly recommend this book whether you're a novice or in pro her so much she had to be learned.

pretty good book!

while i haven't (yet) had any lucid dreams that I think could be attributed to reading/listening to this book, I think if that, if I continue to practice the pieces of advice and exercises Mr. Morley advocates, it will happen.

A must-read for the dreamer

This is the perfect book to begin to develop a dream yoga practice which is a new realm for me. I've always been interested in dreams and write down my significant ones but this guide takes it to another level. I love how the information is presented in a balanced combination of science, Buddhist practice and interesting anecdotes. It's both fascinating and fun! It's read by the author who's excitement for the subject is so engaging. I experienced two lucid dreams within a week of listening and following the prompts. I would've preferred his dreams to be in the chapters instead of in an index at the end but still love the book.

Really good...

I've already had drastic extensions to the longevity of my short lived lucid dreams. I like the inclusion of a meditational and eastern tradition approach.

Lots of anecdotal stories

Sandwiched between anecdotal stories are tips for lucid dreaming. Some of the tips I haven't heard before and I've been around the block when it comes to this subject.
