Publisher's Summary

Daughter of the high priest of Re, Asenath is a child when she first meets the Hebrew slave, Joseph. That night her lucid dreams begin as her heart and destiny are forever joined with the extraordinary man whom Elohim, the one true God, has chosen as part of his plan for the world's redemption. The untold story of Asenath's awakening to the divine truth through the power of love and dreams gives flesh, blood, and soul to the woman scripture merely names as Joseph's bride.

Maria Isabel Pita draws directly from the book of Genesis to tell the story of Joseph from a remarkable new perspective. The Story of Asenath and Joseph is a heart-soaring tale of romance, destiny, dreams, and faith that views the rise of a captive Hebrew from slave to prisoner to ruler through the eyes of the woman who loves him.

Wonderful!!!

I loved this book! The story was biblically accurate, and gave insight and detail to Joseph’s life. The only downside to the book was that it ended. I wanted to know more of Joseph’s life after Asenath.

I would recommend this book to everyone.

Fabulous!

A beautiful story of Asenath and Joseph, who made a great contribution to Egypt when it suffered through a well document drought. This story brought his wife Asenath to life through her thoughts, dreams and finding God. The authors' knowledge of Ancient Egypt and of the bible mad it worth the listening tom plus that she narrated it herself made it even better since she knew by heart the feelings and emotions of each of the characters in her novel. This novel is a must read or listen to, whichever is your preference.

Interesting listen

I have always been intrigued by ancient Egyptian things. This book was very interesting and the imagery good. I found the premise of the book enjoyable. I have not listened to many books where the author and narrator are one in the same. I think Maria Isabel Pita is very talented. I was voluntarily provided with this review copy audiobook at no charge by the author, narrator, and or publisher.

Enjoyable and interesting

What made the experience of listening to Dreaming in Egypt the most enjoyable?

The narrator has a lovey voice that is a mix of strength, passion and projects curiosity through one of the characters that made a delightful easy listen

What other book might you compare Dreaming in Egypt to and why?

No book but a historical novel presented in a way that engages

Have you listened to any of Maria Isabel Pita’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes, and the usual high standard I expect. Well researched and factual where it should be and a delightful story where it matters.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No - I wanted it to last

Any additional comments?

There is a mix of fact, fantasy and some decent into the area of conscious or lucid dreaming. It was all blended in a wonderful way so never felt like a rough shift or a point was being made, just an easy too and fro that added depth to the work

Enjoyed very much!

This story of Asenath and Joseph of the Bible was well written. Told from the view point of Asenath, I found this story to be very well told and I kept finding myself going back to the Bible to confirm some historical events that the author would bring up, and they were all accurate. Considering there is almost no information regarding Asenath and her life before Joseph in the Bible, the author did a fantastic job of bring her to life in this fictional tale. The author also was the narrator in the audiobook that I listened to and she has a lovely sound to her voice and easy on the ears. She does a wonderful job of narrating, keeping things moving seamlessly, as well as bringing the character's personality to life through their voices. All in all, I recommend this book.

Brings the Biblical Joseph to life

This was a really interesting book. It is the story of Joseph and Asenath and I am familiar with the story of Joseph from reading the Bible, but I don't really know anything about Asenath. This book was great at bringing both of them to life for me. Rather than see Joseph as a distant figure in history, this book makes him more real. I've always been fascinated with Egypt, and I really enjoyed seeing the contrasts between the Hebrew people and the Egyptians and the reasons behind them (for example, the way they dressed). This book really made the whole time period more real to me. I listened to the Audible audiobook, which was narrated by the author. This author does a great job at narrating! She had a great voice and gives unique voices to each of the characters in the story. This is the first book I've ever read by the author, but I will definitely be checking out more.

not too bad.

What did you like best about Dreaming in Egypt? What did you like least?

The flow of the story line. It wasn't jerky, or disjointed.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I don't know if I would change the story, but I would change the narration.

How could the performance have been better?

More emotion in the reading. The performance is good when you are having trouble relaxing at night, her voice is relaxing, but I prefer more emotion.

Was Dreaming in Egypt worth the listening time?

It's a toss up, I had a hard time focusing and found myself drifting off. But when I was able to stay focused I enjoyed the story.
