Publisher's summary

New York Times bestsellers P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast return with Draw Down the Moon, the first book in a new duology set in a dark and magickal world filled with incredible danger and irresistible romance.

A mystical school. A mysterious death. A magickal romance.

Wren Nightingale isn’t supposed to have any elemental powers. Born of magickal parents but not under one of the four fated astrological full moons, she is destined for life as a Mundane—right up until she starts glowing on her eighteenth birthday. In a heartbeat, Wren’s life is turned upside down, and she’s suddenly leaving her home for the mystical Academia de la Luna—a secret magickal school on a hidden island off the Seattle coast.

Lee Young has always known about his future at the academy. He has three goals: pass the trials, impress the Moon Council, and uphold his family’s reputation. But he wasn’t expecting to be attending alongside the girl he’s been secretly in love with for as long as he can remember.

As Wren and Lee are thrown into the academy’s grueling trials, they quickly learn there’s something different—and dangerous—about the school this year. Wren will have to navigate a web of secrets, prophecies . . . and murder. And Lee will have to decide what to protect: his family’s legacy, or the girl he loves.

OK Story

To be honest, I'm very torn with this review. Normally, I absolutely love everything written by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast, individually and separate as authors. For some reason this particular story did not grab me right out of the gate and it took me awhile to actually finish the story. As expected, it does end with cliffhanger, and truthfully it will depend on when the book comes out as to whether I decide to finish the story or not. If the second book comes out quickly then I probably will read it however, if the next book comes out in a year or so I don't think that I will care enough to read the end of the story. Saying that, makes me feel very bad because as I previously said I normally love stories written by these two the authors. The setting was okay, the storyline was okay, the characters were okay, I think the thing that just threw me off is that the characters reminded me of my 5th graders, 11-year-olds, rather than 18-year-olds heading off to college. So overall, the story was just okay, and I hope other people liked it better than I did! I decided to give the story three stars instead of two stars in hopes that the conclusion will be better written and this first book was more of world building/ getting to know the characters.

wow

In true PC cast form they do it again. They suck you in the characters and keep you guessing, and than leave you hanging. this should be another great series from them.

Enjoyable but predictable

I’ll start off by saying this is an enjoyable read. It was certainly worth it BUT don’t expect a groundbreaking story. It’s predictable. If this is the first book in the series, it could be a great introduction! However, it spends too much time exploring relationship dynamics and too little time explaining the actual world and how the magic actually works.

I really enjoy P.C. Cast and Kristen Cast’s writing styles though, so beautiful writing does make up for what the story lacks.

Bottom line, worth it to read but don’t expect a ton.

Trying out a new artist, sorry not a fan

Sorry but imho, the story lagged. It was boring. I won’t be getting another book from these authors.
