Publisher's summary

In the city of Magic's Bend, I protect what's mine. No matter what.

To the world, I'm a just a Conjurer. To my closest friends, I'm a FireSoul - a dangerous Magica with forbidden powers and a dragon's soul. The downside? If anyone discovers what I am, I'm dead. So I lay low, kicking butt with my weapons, not my magic.

Things get ugly when I witness the murder of a powerful vampire ally and become the key suspect. Soon, I'm hunted by the sexiest, strongest supernatural I've ever met. Ares is an unheard of vampire hybrid, and it's hard to say if he wants to kiss me or kill me.

I've got three days to catch the real killer. The bad news? It will take my forbidden magic to succeed. But can I control it, much less keep my secret with Ares watching my every move? Especially when the stakes get ever higher?

I'm used to protecting others...now I have to protect myself.

This is just the start of Pheonix Knight's adventures. This omnibus contains all five books in the Dragon's Gift: The Protector Series.

An Adventurous Series!

I really enjoyed listening to this series. It took me a few days but well worth it. The stories are action packed and well written. I enjoyed hearing about Nix's adventures to the last page! I will be looking into the other sets in this series! If you enjoy ample action and adventure mixed with a bit of romance then this set is for you. The narration by Laurel Schroeder was great and only added to the story's experience. Her cadence takes a bit to get used to but once you do...you'll get lost in story and won't be able to imagine anyone else narrating Nix's story! An excellent job all around!

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Up from the Ashes

Phoenix Knight has gaps in her memory, a magic that is outlawed and would get her killed, and a chip on her shoulder as big as the city she lives in. But when she witnesses a murder and confronted by the Vampire Enforcer, she can no longer hide in the shadows. I loved the way the character grew in the series and the different ways she was challenged. I can't say much more without giving it away but if you enjoyed Kim Harrison or Jim Butcher you'll like these books. The Narrator was also very good at making each character distinct. I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Awesome Series

I originally listened to book 1-3 individually. I was happy to see there was a complete series option as well. This really is an excellent series for those who like magic and fantasy books. It's full of adventure, magical creatures, ancient artifacts... you name it and this series has it. I'm planning on listening to the entire collection from the beginning soon.

The narrator does an excellent job with this book. It's a very good performance. I wish she was the narrator for more of the books in my library.

I requested and received a free copy of this audiobook from the author, narrator, or publisher in exchange for an unbiased review. I was NOT required to write a positive review and this reflects my honest opinion of the work.

Solid urban fantasy and a steal of a deal.

The Dragon's Gift: The Protector series is a solid urban fantasy and is a heck of a deal. Join Nix on her entire adventure over the complete 5 book series that is loaded with action, mystery, romance, and plenty of magic. Great collection of characters and an interesting story arc.

Fun and action packed! Loved it!

Super fun series! Tons of action and adventure! Plus, the women kick some major butt! Lots of cool magic and magical powers! I listened to the audio for the boxset, and the narrator does a great job. She has a lot of voices to do, and she does them all well. I enjoyed her performance. I loved listening to all 5 books one right after the other. Totally great deal for 1 Audible credit! These 5 books are from Nix's POV. I'd recommend reading both Cass' and Del's book series before this one, so you'll have the full story. The 3 are sisters by choice; they were kidnapped together when they were teens and escaped with their memories missing. Their story starts in Cass' 5 book series, then on to Del's 5 books, so it's good to start at the beginning. There's not a lot of depth to the characters in this series, but I still like them all. This series focuses more on the adventures that the sisters have. I find all of the action very entertaining and fun. There's is some light romance, which I do like the pairing of Nix and Ares, but I would've liked a bit more. Fun conclusion to the sister's story! For Nix's last book and the conclusion, I would've loved to have more of each sister's lives. Overall, it was an awesome read! All 15 books were very entertaining! Looking forward to more books by Linsey Hall!

breathless

the writer did a very good job with the story and building interest between each book. the narrater terrible, out of breath and gasping for air though out made it a very har listen.

Nix's turn to come into her power

Laurel returns to bring Nix and our crew to life for us. When the characters sound short of breath, so does Laurel. I enjoy these little actions added to narrators, it makes the book feel alive in audio. I enjoy the way Laurel bring the characters to life by sounding as they are actually living through the events written. Laurel has done a great job at voicing accents and personalities for the characters. We even cross a few ghosts and the feel of the creepy described is in Laurel's voice. Great addition to the world.

All of the deirfiur have to go through trials of their own, to learn their abilities and grow into their part for the ultimate end goal. Nix has her journey here. Nix learns more about herself and her powers. She even learns of something she didn't know she had. But Nix also gains a strong ally group and a close friend.

I like Nix because she's not all power. Nix thinks she's not powerful in magic with the ability she has, conjuring. But Nix is stronger in other ways. Nix has a hidden power she didn't realize she had, which is very neat. I like this magic, and it fits her and her life. Nix is quick to learn and control her new magics. She doesn't like the one power she absorbed in the previous book, but it's the opposite yet the same as what she possesses and is needed for her rule in what's to come for the trio of ladies.

I have loved the growth of Nix and Ares's relationship throughout Nix's series of books. They are an amazing pair. And Ares has no problems stepping back and letting Nix be in the lead. Ares feels like a perfect match for Nix.

Nix's story is about her, but I get a sense it's more too. Nix learns about herself, past and powers, but she's also learning what's in store for her deifiur. This makes the story feel deeper for me. I love that there feels to be two fold in the story line. We start to see the connection to dragons as well. I feel as though we are leading to more with the three girls as well. They are all key in something more, which we know of but we get the feel as we are getting closer to that 'something', what they are fated to do.

We learn about dragons and their history. Then about FireSouls. And, this leads to our ladies and their connection to things. Nix's journey feels like it's one of the most important, maybe because of who she is or maybe because she's the last of the three to come into her powers. But this is the series that feels to highlight all three of the ladies along with what they are.
