Unexpectedly amazing!

I was surprised by how much I love this book! At first it was hard to listen to me because her accent is so thick and there were terms I didn’t understand to begin with. But as the story went on, I felt a kinship with Georgina. So many profound messages that I need the physical book so I can look back on it!

Predictable but lovely

No big surprises or plot twists- this is standard chick lit- but the characters and relationships are well-drawn and our heroine is flawed and likable. Excellent humor and writing style.

Great story

I really liked the realism of this story and the narrator did such great work. It’s gritty, funny, empowering and also just so entertaining, too. So glad we are finally getting the message out to stop training our girl children in particular to be people pleasers. Well done.

First book by this author

I really enjoyed the story. Characters felt developed and real. Going to read more of her books.

More general fiction than romance

Not quite sure how this one ended up categorized as a romance but I enjoyed it a lot as a novel. I would advise those looking for steamy sex scenes to give this one a pass, though.

Very Enjoyable

I enjoyed this book very much. It was amusing, thought provoking and tender. excellent narrator. I have listened to 3 or Mhairi's books and will listen to the others soon.

I really liked all the characters and didn’t want it to end.

It’s always been mysteries and thrillers and I’m an avid Austen fan, partly for the historical framing but mostly for the excellent writing and the repartee between the people. I’ve tried several Romance books but lose patience with the story or the utter shallowness I’ve encountered. Thank you Audible for letting me return them. I so enjoyed this and will try another from Mhairi McFarlane.
