Tish Bonner’s high-school English class has to keep a dumb journal for their teacher, Mrs. Dunphrey. Doesn’t Mrs. Dunphrey know that kids are too busy coping with real life to be bothered with writing? But when 16-year-old Tish’s life is turned upside down, her journal becomes her only confidante.

Relying on her teacher’s promise that she won’t read any entry marked "don’t read this," Tish writes about her loneliness and fear when her mother abandons her and her little brother. Alone and with nowhere to turn, the teenager is forced to trust Mrs. Dunphrey with a final entry—one that she desperately wants her to read.

Popular new author Margaret Peterson Haddix addresses the fear, desperation, and loneliness of young abuse victims with warm insight and compassion. Alyssa Bresnahan’s flawless reading underscores a message which can’t be emphasized enough: "sometimes you need to ask for help."

I enjoyed it! The audio file has some glitches where it skips /repeats but it's not so bad that you miss anything major.

Good storytelling

The story is unique in the way it is written like a student’s journal assignment. The plot is slow.
Annoyingly, the narrator who recorded the book repeats words making it odd to listen to.

Stuttering

Quality of the audio was bad. Hiccups in the narrating. The story itself was pretty good and I really enjoyed it.

Great story, bad audio quality

It’s like the speaker talks with a stutter in several places. This distracts from the story.

Good Story, Bad Recording

The recording is very choppy. Seems to glitch and skip. It made it hard to keep up with the story at some points.

The quality of the recording.

The book was recorded very poorly. There were several parts where the audio get extremely distorted and choppy. In several sections, the audio skips and repeats words randomly. The story is great, but this recording wasn’t the best. If there is another source, I would try that one.

Recording was very poor quality.
