Critic reviews

"Cash's good ole gals always get their man, and deliver big laughs in the process ... Quickwitted, fast paced, and plain old fun, Cash's madcap series just keeps getting better." ( Booklist)

Silly but Decent Plot

Any additional comments?

This book was a bit silly, the theme of humor was the contrast of country Texans in NYC. Kinda like Thelma and Louise meets the Beverly Hillbillies meets the Hardy Boys. The plot had long slow built up, but for me it was worth hanging in there…toward the climax, I couldn't put it down…or, uh…whatever the audio equivalent is. Great narration!

choose Choos

This was probably the cutest, funniest, most engaging, fun book I've listened to in a very long time. I found myself laughing out loud over and over.. folks in the cars next to me at red lights, etc thought I had lost it...

Compliments from a Texas Girl

I could not stop laughing while listening to this book. I didn't want it to end. I know there is another one out as I went on Lone Star Audio to check. I sure hope Audible gets this one and real soon.

Cash is a winner

I loved listening to this audio book, since the narrator has a genuine sounding Texas twang, just the accent I grew up with and hear every day. These two gals really do a bang-up job solving a mystery.

Light and funny

This story couldn't have much less depth but the performance turns it into a fun listen for one of those times when you don't want to have to think or analyze. It's definitely a girl's story. It's uplifting and makes you laugh.

Too simple and too slow

I wouldn't take the time to write a review, but I really don't understand how this audiobook got so many good reviews. This story reads like a moment by moment walk through of two texas girls and their trip to the big New York. The book is very simplistic, so it got boring very quickly. The only reason I listened through the whole book was that I had paid for the audiobook.

Fun, Liit Read

This was a great beach read. Predictable but entertaining. Narrator did a good job with the voices.

Bickering abound

I can easily say this book is about two annoying bickering Texans who blunder
their way through New York City. Quite easily the most annoying audiobook I’ve ever listened to

Don’t Make Me Choose

This story is a hoot. Two Texan women hair dressers/private detectives are asked to talk at an important PI conference in New York City. A good time is had by all except the bad guys.

Don't Miss this book!

Where does Don't Make Me Choose Between You and My Shoes rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Dixie Cash has written a very fun, VERY FUNNY series of books about two strong women in Texas living their lives as best they can while cutting hair and solving mysteries! I read THIS book first and then went back to find all of the books in the series because it was that good! The books are very good but the narrator of this series, Peggity Price (don't you just love that name!) is the perfect choice and she enhances these very good books with her excellent performance. THIS book is on my list of favorites because it makes me laugh every time I hear it!

Who was your favorite character and why?

Edwina because I want her car.

What does Peggity Price bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She makes the characters distinct and performs the dialog as one that has lived or worked in that area. She sounds like Texas and her delivery is exactly like someone from that area would say it-same energy and emotions. She makes the characters feel real.

If you could take any character from Don't Make Me Choose Between You and My Shoes out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Edwina because I want her car!
