Publisher's Summary

In Wendy Walker's thrilling novel Don't Look for Me, the greatest risk isn’t running away. It’s running out of time.

One night, Molly Clarke walked away from her life.

She doesn't want to be found.

Or at least, that's the story.

The car abandoned miles from home.

The note found at a nearby hotel.

The shattered family that couldn’t be put back together.

They called it a “walk away.” It happens all the time. Women disappear, desperate to leave their lives behind and start over. But is that what really happened to Molly Clarke?

A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin's Press

Don't Look for Me is:

“Exemplary. Distinctive, well-developed characters complement the skillfully paced plot. This moving look at the bond between a mother and her children reinforces Walker’s place at the top of the genre.” (Publishers Weekly, starred review)

“Gripping...with unexpected twists.... You’ve got a cracking mystery on your hands.” (Adrian McKinty, author of The Chain)

“A nailbiter.... So much more than a twisty thriller. It’s heartbreaking portrait of a family coping with grief and an insightful study of guilt and blame, gaslighting and agency. If you love fast-paced page-turners with relatable, flawed characters, look no further!" (Angie Kim, author of Miracle Creek)

"Sharp, nuanced, utterly real, and absolutely terrifying, this beautifully written and emotionally powerful novel is Walker at her best!" (Karen Dionne, author of The Marsh King's Daughter)

"Unsettling in the very best way and truly riveting." (Samantha Downing, author of My Lovely Wife)

"A pulse-pounding, thrill ride of a novel with heart." (Kathleen Barber, author of Truth Be Told)

"A master class in psychological suspense." (Cristina Alger, author of Girls Like Us)

Better than Gone Girl!

I don't wanna oversell it, but there's good character development, good twists, and a compelling storyline. What are you waiting for? 😊

Started Strong but,Fizzled Out

I purchased this audibook on the recommendation of Carole Kepnes who wrote 'YOU,' which I loved, but then I soon remembered she also wrote the disaster called 'Providence.' Her recommendation because almost as poor as her last novel when I got mid way into 'Don't Look For Me.'

'Don't Look For Me' is an original story. A grieving mother with a dysfunctional family wants to leave everyone behind, or kill herself, or do something to avoid the pain she is feeling after an accident killed her young daughter. She was driving the car that caused her daughter's death. However, she gets picked up by a whack job who has decided to hold her captive, while her family thinks she has just walked away from her life.

The story was speeding right along with great narration and excitement, until it got really dull and uneventful. I would still say the audiobook was worth the listen, but I wouldn't expect much.

full of padding

Not good at all. Kept repeating the same things. Characters and plot not believable. Disappointing

Contrived, nasty tale

I pre-ordered this book because suspense/thrillers are my favorite genre, and it had received great reviews on other websites. Perhaps I would have disliked it less if it had been read by a different narrator. Therese Plummer's performance had an overly dramatic, almost hysterical quality that made it hard for me to stay involved in the story. (Her whiney 9-year-old voice was especially hard to take.) The storyline struck me as contrived and almost silly. I did finish the book but wish I had quit after a couple of chapters and exchanged it. I have enjoyed other work by the author.

COULDN’T GET INRO IT

I have been listening to Audible for years and for some reason I can’t get into Walker’s books. This one was sooooo dragged out, she lost me. I listened until almost the end and was thinking about everything but this book. Not for me

I really liked this book and the narration

I really liked this story line. It kept me interested and guessing the whole time. I didn't like the ending, but I did enjoy the book. I think it would make a great movie. I will definitely read more books from this author. The person reading the story did an amazing job.

Enjoyable

I bought this book because somebody compared it to Gone Girl. Although it is a very well written novel, it's not quite as good as Gone Girl but I'd say if you enjoyed Gone Girl you will likely enjoy "Don't Look for Me".

Fantastic narration

What I loved most about this book was the narration. She did such an amazing job. It’s a great book too. Captivating story. If you’re looking for a moderately quick listen and an engaging story, definitely listen to this!

My kind of thriller

I loved this book. I was actually kind of surprised to like it so much because (without giving away spoilers) the particular subject matter is something I tend to steer away from. But for some reason the story and writing style pulled me in and made me feel comfortable enough to stick with it. Some authors go over the top with the sadistic stuff for shock value, and it can bother me. This one was refreshing in that way, while still dark, creepy and full of twists.

Excellent character development and full of sneaky red herrings to throw you off the scent. I'd definitely recommend it!
