Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred. It’s now 1983, and home-health aide Kit McDeere arrives at a decaying Hope’s End to care for Lenora after her previous nurse fled in the middle of the night.

UrbanMyth: It was lauded as an alternative to the performative, show-your-best-self platforms—an anonymous discussion board grouped by zip code. The residents of Manhattan’s exclusive Upper East Side disclosed it all, things they would never share with their friends or their spouses: secret bank accounts, steamy affairs, tidbits of juicy gossip. So when a “hacktivist” group breaks into the forum and exposes the real identity of each poster, the repercussions echo down Park Avenue with a force that none could have anticipated.

True crime writer Wylie Lark doesn’t mind being snowed in at the isolated farmhouse where she’s retreated to write her new book. A cozy fire, complete silence. Publisher's summary
In Wendy Walker's thrilling novel Don't Look for Me, the greatest risk isn’t running away. It’s running out of time.
One night, Molly Clarke walked away from her life.
She doesn't want to be found.
Or at least, that's the story.
The car abandoned miles from home.
The note found at a nearby hotel.
The shattered family that couldn’t be put back together.
They called it a “walk away.” It happens all the time. Women disappear, desperate to leave their lives behind and start over. But is that what really happened to Molly Clarke?
A Macmillan Audio production from St. Martin's Press
Don't Look for Me is:
“Exemplary. Distinctive, well-developed characters complement the skillfully paced plot. This moving look at the bond between a mother and her children reinforces Walker’s place at the top of the genre.” (Publishers Weekly, starred review)
“Gripping...with unexpected twists.... You’ve got a cracking mystery on your hands.” (Adrian McKinty, author of The Chain)
“A nailbiter.... So much more than a twisty thriller. It’s heartbreaking portrait of a family coping with grief and an insightful study of guilt and blame, gaslighting and agency. If you love fast-paced page-turners with relatable, flawed characters, look no further!" (Angie Kim, author of Miracle Creek)
"Sharp, nuanced, utterly real, and absolutely terrifying, this beautifully written and emotionally powerful novel is Walker at her best!" (Karen Dionne, author of The Marsh King's Daughter)
"Unsettling in the very best way and truly riveting." (Samantha Downing, author of My Lovely Wife)
"A pulse-pounding, thrill ride of a novel with heart." (Kathleen Barber, author of Truth Be Told)
"A master class in psychological suspense." (Cristina Alger, author of Girls Like Us)

Contrived, nasty tale
I pre-ordered this book because suspense/thrillers are my favorite genre, and it had received great reviews on other websites. Perhaps I would have disliked it less if it had been read by a different narrator. Therese Plummer's performance had an overly dramatic, almost hysterical quality that made it hard for me to stay involved in the story. (Her whiney 9-year-old voice was especially hard to take.) The storyline struck me as contrived and almost silly. I did finish the book but wish I had quit after a couple of chapters and exchanged it. I have enjoyed other work by the author.

Enjoyable
I bought this book because somebody compared it to Gone Girl. Although it is a very well written novel, it's not quite as good as Gone Girl but I'd say if you enjoyed Gone Girl you will likely enjoy "Don't Look for Me".

Maybe better if differently narrated?
I’m pretty easy to please. Gimme a good story with decent narration, and I’ll enjoy just about anything. However, I found this book really disappointing. Wish I hadn’t stuck with it and wasted a credit. Overall, the story itself seemed highly implausible rather than satisfyingly twisty, as I’d hoped. The characters’ thoughts, feelings and actions also struck me as unbelievable. The narration may have been largely to blame. By the end, I very much wanted to throttle the protagonist because her voice was exceedingly annoying. The word “sniveling” comes to mind. Many of the supporting characters’ voices were downright grating, too. The most distracting aspect of the narration, though, was the reader’s habit of adding a stutter to the beginning of some of ALL the main characters’ sentences. I don’t have an actual hard copy of this book, so I can’t be sure, but I doubt Walker wrote it that way. I found myself grinding my teeth each time I heard “I-I-I” or “Wh-wh-what” or “A-a-and.” The narrator also did this weird dramatic breathing that made me want to hand her a paper bag. I couldn’t even make it through the last half hour. Finally gave up. Listen to American Girl instead.

I really liked this story line. It kept me interested and guessing the whole time. I didn't like the ending, but I did enjoy the book. I think it would make a great movie. I will definitely read more books from this author. The person reading the story did an amazing job.

Creepy good
Did Molly Clarke walk away from her life? Responsible for the accident that killed her daughter, Molly can’t forgive herself. Her husband no longer loves her. She embarrasses her teenage son. Worst of all her daughter Nicole hates Molly’s guts. Then Molly goes missing. A note in her handwriting says DON’T LOOK FOR ME. Nicole is determined to find her mother in the creepy town the car was abandoned, a town where everybody lies.
Wendy Walker’s books keep getting better and better. Chapters alternate between Molly’s captivity and Nicole’s search for her mom leading up to a a thrilling crescendo where not everyone survives.
In captivity, Molly bonds with young Alice, one of the creepiest children ever written in realistic fiction. How much Alice does or doesn’t know may be the key to Molly’s survival. Or her demise.
DON’T LOOK FOR ME is sure to keep readers on their toes, the recommending the book to everyone they know.

Gabby Ashford has just survived an attempt on her life. Detectives have connected her story to two other cases in the area: Professional women drugged at a bar, brought to their homes, and drowned in their bathtubs. Gabby, who miraculously woke up in her own bathtub unharmed, could be the key to finding a serial killer on the loose - but she has no memory of the attack. Gabby admits herself to a high-end rehabilitation center to recover, and to seek the help of a psychiatrist renowned for his work with memory recovery.
