Publisher's summary

Once upon a time, I was a mute captive who wished for death. Now, I'm stowed away on a yacht. Saved and taken, the thief who stole me demands my voice, my past, my everything. I won't give in. But Elder refuses to take no for an answer. He pushes and cajoles, slowly discovering who I am. Until I find out he plays the cello to escape his demons, all while his music conjures mine. He's rich, I'm bankrupt. I'm mute by choice, he's curious by nature. So many reasons why we can never work. But that doesn't stop our connection, our passion. Until one night, he ruins everything. And our relationship becomes twisted and full of sin.

Long circular story with little to no romance

Simply put, I just got tired of listening. The story goes in circles for 8 hrs. Nothing of note really happens and there is no romance worth speaking of, just an abused girl who refuses to speak.

Like the story, hate that I have to wait for book 3 to be released in audio

In a perfect world authors would write a complete story in 1 book. Not 4-5 books that are released months apart. I feel like the story should have gotten a little further in book 2, but it ended just as it was getting good as most series books do. If I were you I would wait until all the books are in audio before you start listening to books 1&2. As for narration, Kylie did fantastic, and while I love Eric Rolon's voice, he did sound as if he was reading me a book rather than voice acting or performing. I like it when I feel like they are the actual character, rather than just a narrator reading me a story. This brought it from a 5 star to a 4. But I would still highly recommend it, I would just wait for the rest of the series.

I’m a huge P.W. Fan But...

Had this book not been part of the Escape package I would have had to return the book. You can absolutely skip this book and miss nothing. I read the reviews before hand and still chose to give it a shot thinking people were just being melodramatic. Nope they were all right. I even got to the point where I wanted Elder to just leave her at the port. I’ve never seen a more unlikable victim in my life. This book was Pim in her head till the last 3 minutes where she finally spoke. The only good thing about this book is Elder and his staff and that at least he got laid in the end though she even ruined that for him. I know I sound harsh because as a female that has been through pretty harsh sexual trauma myself I should sympathize with Pim and I did but damn use the creative license and make time go on so we don’t have to listen to 11 hours of nonsense. Kinda like Book 1. I’ve read the reviews for the next book and this time I will listen to the reviews and skip that book. And may even skip the one after that and just go on to the last book so I don’t waste a credit or gave buyers remorse.

With all that said the narrators were above par! They both embodied the characters and their emotions so well that it made a movie in my head. They are both now on my favorite narrators list.

I can't get enough of Elder and Pim

Dollars is the second Volume in Pepper Winter's Dollar Series. It picks up where book one left, off so I would highly recommend starting from there.

This book is stacked with emotion, rips at your heart strings and sets your mind on fire. The characters continue to grow as they move forward from their horrific past. It gives you a peek inside the minds of Elder and Pim.

I could not get these characters out of my mind, long after I left the actual story. Though there are dark twists and turns woven throughout, Pepper Winters had an amazing ability to create and capture my heart as she shows how Elder helps Pim move forward.

I loved this story so much, I immediately one-clicked book three. I can't wait to see what Pepper Winters has in store for me next.

PS - Kylie C. Stewart and Eric Rolin do a phenomenal job of bringing Pepper's characters to life. Their performance enhanced the story and made me fall more for Elder and Pim with each and every word.

There aren't words to describe.

Would you listen to Dollars again? Why?

I have never been so moved by a book series in my life. I am waiting for the next book to be released and when I am finished with the entire series, I will listen to it again...

Who was your favorite character and why?

Elder - The way he is with her is heart melting. Gental, calm, patient, kind....

Which character – as performed by Kylie C. Stewart and Eric Rolon – was your favorite?

Kylie and Eric both...I love them as a duet...by far my most favorite duet of all the books I've listen to on Audible. I love every character they've played. There is no way I could pick.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending yet again. I litterally felt as if I couldn't breathe.

I liked it!

This was a continuation of book one: Pennies. We learn a lot more about Elder and Pim. I didn’t really like book one very much and thought about just cutting my losses. (I had bought all the books) I’m glad I gave this series another chance. Four stars on this 2nd book in the series. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
