Publisher's summary

When Dr. Cyrus Mills returned home after inheriting his estranged father's veterinary practice, the last thing he wanted was to stay in Eden Falls, Vermont. However, the previously reclusive veterinarian pathologist quickly found that he actually enjoyed treating animals and getting to know the eccentric residents of the tiny provincial town - especially an alluring waitress named Amy.

So Cyrus is now determined to make Bedside Manor thrive. Not an easy goal, given that Healthy Paws, the national veterinary chain across town, will stop at nothing to crush its mom-and-pop competitor. To top it off, Cyrus finds himself both the guardian of a very unique orphaned dog and smack in the middle of serious small-town drama.

Simple, but fun.

I enjoy Nick Trout books. This one had some fun characters. I just wish he had made it longer and finished his romantic relationship with Amy.

Where does Dog Gone, Back Soon rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very high--top 10% at least.

What did you like best about this story?

The whole combo--Dr. House meets James Herriot meets Murder She Wrote meets movie starring Hugh Grant. Beautifully voiced.

Have you listened to any of Peter Berkrot’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not sure, other than the first of this series. Both of these great.

If you could take any character from Dog Gone, Back Soon out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Cyrus. If he weren't fictional, I would wrestle Amy for him.

Cyrus, come back soon!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, but I would suggest they read the first book in the series first. This is another warm and funny listen. Great characters (of all species).

What other book might you compare Dog Gone, Back Soon to and why?

I think the author said somewhere that he was hoping to pay homage to the James Herriott books. In my opinion, he succeeds.

Have you listened to any of Peter Berkrot’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Only the previous book in the series. I think he does a great job and will happily listen to him narrating something else.

Who was the most memorable character of Dog Gone, Back Soon and why?

Stash!

Any additional comments?

Sometimes I like a book to challenge me, sometimes I like to learn something, and sometimes I just want to disappear into another world for a little while. This book took me away from my troubles for a little while, and I really look forward to the next installment.

Great story

Loved this so much. Humour, mystery, romance, and animals.... what's not to love. Veterinary intrigue at its finest.

Dorky Nerdy Cyrus Mills

I love this continuation of “ The Patron Saint Of Lost Dogs”. I know that the author is a vet. I sure wish he lived near me. I would definitely want him as my vet. There are so many that are in it for how much money they can bring in. But that is not the best type of doctor.

Disappointed

I generally really enjoy Nick Trout's books and have even given some as gifts. But this one just wasn't believable in terms of the main characters and I would have liked it too have been more about the dogs, not his lovelife.
