Publisher's summary

Gabe Evans is a man of his word with strong convictions and steadfast loyalty. As the sheriff of Splendor, Montana, an ex-Union colonel, and the oldest of four boys from an affluent family, Gabe understands the meaning of responsibility. The last thing he wants is another commitment - especially of the female variety.

Until he meets Lena Campanel....

Lena’s past is one she intends to keep buried. Overcoming a childhood of setbacks and obstacles, she and her friend, Nick, have succeeded in creating a life of financial success and devout loyalty to one another.

When an unexpected death leaves Gabe the sole heir of a considerable estate, partnering with Nick and Lena is a lucrative decision...forcing Gabe and Lena to work together. As their desire grows, Lena refuses to let down her guard, vowing to keep her past hidden - even from a perfect man like Gabe.

But secrets never stay buried....

When revealed, Gabe realizes Lena’s secrets are deeper than he ever imagined. For a man of his character, deception and lies of omission aren’t negotiable. Will he be able to forgive the deceit? Or is the damage too great to ever repair?

Love this series

So far I'm on book 4 of the series. I've enjoyed all 4 books. I have a slight problem with the narrator -- he has a WONDERFUL voice. It's just that his decisions on where to slow down, and even more glaring where to pause, are very very abnormal to what I'm used to hearing. At first I thought he just wasn't very good, but he IS good. He uses a slightly different voice for all the characters, keeps up with it through each book, and like I said, has one heckofa great voice. He mentions this strange cadence at the end of this Book (Dixie Moon) and says he likes to play with the readers with it. I tried to contact him through facebook and this website to not say this publicly, but failing that, decided to make it part of my review. I can't wait to listen to the rest of the books in the series, and I've gotten used to the pauses in crazy places and odd inflections SO, I hope he performs the rest of the series. And I would caution anyone who is put off by the oddness to give it a chance, because the series is good enough to get used to him. Truly -- get used to him so you can hear what happens in this great series and enjoy the rich (and quite frankly sexy) timbre of his voice!

Great listening

I have enjoyed this series. Every book was great. The narrator was really enjoyable to listen too. I hope there will be more.
