The False Worldview Ravaging the Church

A person’s reaction to the phrase, Divine Coincidence, tells what their worldview is. Either there is a God who is personal and relatable, or there is no personal God with which we can relate. Both James and Joseph believed in a personal God who offered protective care with a purpose. They left no room for miraculous coincidences without cause. They insisted upon, and joyfully served, a providential God of miraculous power and purpose. Today, many Christians likewise harpoon the idea of mindless, purposeless, coincidence. But they too often fail to take the next necessary step to affirmation of God’s protective care. They fail to see how what they are going through, the trial they are facing, is in-line with their “God is Love” theology. Surely an All Loving God would not require them to suffer so, to endure such hardship, or go so long without answered prayers.
