Publisher's summary

Emergency room doctor Rachel Wilde and detective Grant Murphy meet by chance and it takes only one glance and a simple, gentle touch to ignite their senses.

When Grant's wife is in a tragic accident, Rachel goes above and beyond the call of duty to save her life. It is the moment she faces Grant again that their lives begin to spin out of control and they realize the lives of their loved ones were deeply intertwined.

The distorted loyalties of the ones they lost will drive a wedge between them and it will take another death, a last will, and a look beyond the grave to find the path they must follow.

I received a free code for this book.

"I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

This book was pretty good! There was a lot going on, and it was not the typical romance I would read. There was a sort of mystery aspect to the story, which I felt kept it interesting. Also, there were a lot of things that had to happen to get the two main characters together, and even though some parts were a little too "Hallmark Movie-ish", it was still a great story.

As far as the narration goes... GREAT! I'm not usually too big on duet narration, sometimes I feel it's a little hard for me to get into, but the team that did the narration had the best chemistry and worked sooo well together. Later, I found out that they are actually partners in life, as well.

A touching story filled with surprises

I have come to love listening/reading the stories of this talented author. Why? Because her plots are not only engaging, but also because the complex characters are perfect in their imperfection. Individuals facing adversity and somehow , after a great deal of struggles , overcome them .
In this case, Dr. Rachel Wilde and police detective Grant Murphy meet by chance and discover that their children are friends. An attraction is there, but both are married and would not cross the line.
But an accident, loss of a loved one and more deaths, shots and revelations shattered not only their lives , but also that of those around them.
To whom are you loyal, when what you thought was the truth were merely lies and cover-ups. Hard to digest since both Grant and Rachel are straight forward individuals.
This story was emotional , touching, at times heartbreaking, but also filled with hope and love.

Twists and Turns abound

Such a complicated story line that was beautifully narrated. Rachel is an emergency room doctor and Grant is a police officer. These two meet under horrible circumstances and continually are in each other's lives. Due to grief, misunderstanding, miscommunication and more drama we see Rachel and Grant's lives change forever. While so much happens, it is not overdone, it's very realistic. I was pulling for these two to finally realize the love between them. The HEA was very satisfying. Marie and Chris were fantastic narrators, very emotional and believable. I like the duet style and it was perfect for this story.

Wow, you never know how your lives will end up

Loved the story of Grant & Rachel, wasn’t a fan of their spouses but fortunately it worked out. The kids in this story were displayed so honestly I loved them too. Being a single mom to a teenage boy I could totally relate to Rachels position in a lot of scenes. Rachel’s stubbornness and integrity were fantastic and I give Stacy a lot of credit for writing her this way. Absolutely loved this story and can’t wait to read more from Stacy Eaton. I also liked the narration team, it adds to it when you have male/female reading the different parts.

emotional whiplash

Everyone is hiding secrets thus lying by omission. I hate liars, and they trigger me hard.
A 2 yr. affair- really! That just sickened me. Leave and don't play games- that's unconscionable! Rach's marriage (#2) seemed loveless and empty so why such a false strong reaction from her??? Smh. It seems that relationship was long over and both were too lazy to leave it respectfully. The will- don't get me started! Bizarro!!! From the grave, this loser wants to dictate fate??? Are we back to the chattel days?
Rach's demands to Grant for full disclosure with his daughter was krass interference on her part and none of her concerns. I don't agree with Rach at all. 16 is too you for info overload, especially with all the things going on at the time. Wait a couple years with age and better circumstances things could have been presented better. Too much input and well meaning people trying to tell you what to do was totally encroaching and interferingly unnecessary. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrators did a good job with voices and expressions.

Distorted Loyalty

This book was great! A new author to me but will definitely be finding more books by her. This story has all the emotions from sadness to confusion, anger to empathy. And finally happiness at the end. This is definitely a book you will not regret reading or listening to.

wow this audible goes threw a lot of emotions

his story is filled with so many emotions, twists, tragedies and secrets. Grant and Rachel met through their kids. There's an attraction but there are complications. They are married to other people. Secrets are revealed and life changes bring them back to each other.
You need to read the book to see what happens. There is betrayal, jealousy, misunderstandings, lies, and love. I didn’t want to put the book down.

Great Story definitely worth a credit.

This is the story of ER doc Rachel and police detective Grant who meet by chance in a store not realizing how their lives are intertwined. I really enjoyed this book even though I thought Grant could be a real jerk at times. I will definitely listen to more books by this author as she kept me entertained all the way through. The narrator also did a great job.

Spoiler Alert

My only complaint was that I thought that when the car accident happens the kids don’t seem to even react, I would have thought they would have been devastated.

Distorted Loyalty

Distorted Loyalty has a lot of angst, loss, sadness and second chances mixed in with a dose of fate. Rachel and Grant met by chance but found they had an instant connection even though they were both married to other people. There were several twists and turns with lots of things happening after their initial encounter. It was an interesting storyline that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Marie Rose and Chris Chamberlain both did a great job bringing this story to life. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.
