Publisher's summary

In this powerful guidebook, the lead pastor of Fellowship Church demonstrates how the moments that test our faith are the moments God uses to direct our hearts to the one thing we truly desire most: a relationship with Christ.

When the people of Israel, those who had witnessed the most abundant and inexplicable acts of God, grew tired of waiting for Moses to come off the mountain, they made a calf of gold. It was easier for them to make a new god than to continue serving a God that didn’t conform to their schedule and expectations.

Just like the Israelites in the desert, we are all fundamentally longing for God… but who and what are we actually reaching for and serving? Disobedient God addresses the things we do when we feel ignored, inconvenienced and frustrated by God. What things are we reaching for in our life? Are we reaching for porn when we long for intimacy? Reaching for success when we long for security? We would never say that we have replaced God, but our actions tell a different story. Whether we are trying to replace God, trying to run away or trying to perform for Him, we have no mindset to deal with a disobedient God. Disobedient God is a book for people dealing with this disappointment and interested in properly understanding and loving the God they’ve misunderstood.

This is not a step-by-step instruction manual for how to react when things are difficult; rather, it is a way of understanding God that leads people to discover the relationship with God that they were always meant for.

Fantastic!!

This book has truly blessed my soul with its transparent yet unorthodox approach to the subject of God. I think about a passage of this book everyday since I've heard it.

Albert's humility truly ministers. I am worn out on hearing from narcissistic, superhuman leaders who are more arrogant and insecure than most are aware of... whose egos are larger than their relationship with God.

This book is truly refreshing and unique. He literally glorifies God in his approach to ministry. He's caused me to review myself and my approach to God, especially when he explained how we are always reaching for God...even in our sins. I so appreciate this book!

Real-life Faith Booster

This book is SO relatable and has so many great words of wisdom. It’s laced with transparency and vulnerability, which completely drew me in. For anyone who has found this to be true, that God has gone “off script” in your life, but you aren’t sure how to process it or reconcile it, this gives such beautiful language for the journey.

Brings your focus back to a transparent God.

Albert Tate is a great storyteller. He is a great teacher of the Word to want to get you in the daily conversation with the Lord. I appreciated listening to audible, however he speaks regularly at my church, so I had heard a lot of the material in the book while he was on stage. I still enjoy learning from Albert Tate.

Yes

Another great book from Albert Tate. I enjoyed the transparency of the truthfulness in his story. I pray you’ll continue to allow the Master to navigate you in His truth. It’s ok to walk in the dust of life, Jesus is there with me.

Awesome and Challenging

Listened to this book after Albert shared at Life Church last week. What an awesome and challenging message. I would highly recommend to anyone searching for purpose and questioning the plans God has for us.

Engaging and honest, what we all need to hear

Albert Tate has dared to write what so many people think about but what so many are afraid to talk about as Christians. His honesty and vulnerability are present in the pages, and he has a gift for writing and delivery that kept me engaged and hanging on every word. Very good book and highly recommended.
