Publisher's summary

To avoid being sent across an ocean, Grace switches places with her sister. The only man aware of their deception? A dear friend, and her secret love.

Grace Everly has no desire to set sail for the Caribbean, unlike her adventurous twin sister, Hope. Thanks to her sister’s irresponsible behavior and subsequent banning from the journey, Grace’s father decides to send her in Hope’s place. Desperate to remain where things are familiar, Grace proposes an unthinkable plan: that she and Hope switch places. They only have to keep up the act long enough for Hope to board a ship in London. When the man who has stolen Grace’s heart learns of their secret, things get more complicated.

Jacob Barnes, soon to be ordained a vicar, has known Grace and Hope his whole life. Though close to both sisters, he’s dreamed of courting Hope for months. When he realizes his friends have switched places, putting the woman he admires out of his reach, he agrees to help with the subterfuge despite his bruised heart. As he watches Grace stumble in her acting abilities, attempting to change who she is, he realizes how much she means to him. But how does he tell her, without risking their friendship?

The deception puts their relationship to the test. As Grace hides her heart and her identity, Jacob examines his feelings, and no one in their community will be happy when the truth is discovered.

This is the second book in the Inglewood series and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone sweet Regency romance.

Grace Comes Into Her Own

First of all, I have to say that I love Sally Britton’s writing, and I have read everything she has in print. This was a lovely story of Grace coming into her own. Grace switches places with her twin sister; Grace stays home and her sister Hope travels to the Caribbean to have the adventure of a lifetime. It is Grace that always worked behind the scenes planning parties and planning their charity work, but it was always Hope who always received the attention and credit. Hope also caught the eye of Jacob Barnes a lifetime friend of Hope and Grace, but Grace is the twin that is attracted to him. I have read the book and listened to the audio book. Marian Hussey did a wonderful job of narrating this delightful story; I loved listening to and reading this story.

My Favorite Sally Britton book so far!

Sally Britton is becoming ones of those authors that I automatically add her new releases to my TBR list and bump it to the top.
This one might be my favorite so far. Grace and Jacob were friends growing up and a little (a lot) of unrequited love made this one a struggle to put down.

A perfect title!

Every time I tried to think of a headline, the title of the book came back to me. There are so many ways the reader is Discovering Grace.
Once Grace was no longer in the shadow of her sister Hope, she discovered what she was truly made of. The story started out with Grace believing she was happy to be in the background, allowing Hope to have all the credit for the activities the girls participated in together. As the story unfolds, and Grace has to act outgoing like Hope, she realizes she is much more than she believed. She began to blossom as she had experiences of her own and couldn’t rely on Hope to keep the attention of others off her.
It may seem that Jacob is fickle in some ways, thinking he loves Hope and then falling in love with Grace in a short time after Hope leaves. I think it’s that he has discovered who Grace really is, and that the things he thought would make Hope a perfect vicar’s wife, were actually things that Grace orchestrated. The more Hope is not there to steal all the attention, Jacob has time to dicover who Grace really is.
The entire community sees Grace as quiet and a push over. They think Hope leads Grace into all they do either for good or mischief. In their eyes Grace is sort of spineless, has no opinions of her own, and is basically just a puppet to all Hope’s escapades. Because Grace is pretending to be Hope, others feel they can talk more candidly about their opinions. After hearing some very sharp criticisms from others, Grace is awakened to how others view her and wants to correct their skewed opinions. From opportunities, and experiences throughout the story, her peers begin to discover who Grace really is.
Mr. Everly thinks he knows his daughter Grace. He thinks she is weak and timid because she is content in her world as it is. He wants to send her on a trip to help her develop some confidence. He sees what he’s doing as helping to build character. Grace feels this is a sentence and will destroy her. Her true inner strength is shown as she stands up for and gives voice to, what she needs and feels.
As there are so many who have misjudged Grace, and Grace herself has deceived everyone by pretending to be her sister, all the characters need to have “grace” (or forgiveness and understanding) to bring harmony once again to the community.
The narrator of this book has a smooth and expressive voice. She reads at a good pace and somehow hooks you into listening to just one more chapter...and then just one more...

Switching places

I enjoyed listening to this audiobook. The narrator did a great job with the story. She brought the story to life for me. Grace Everly doesn't want to go to the Caribbean so instead she asked her twin sister to switch places. Her sister likes adventures and getting both of them into trouble. Jacob Barns is a good friend of both of the sisters. He dreams of one day courting Hope. So when he go to visit the sister's he realized that Grace is at home and her sister is on the way to the Caribbean for a year.

I received a complimentary copy to listen to from author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.

Enjoyable listen

I recently read this book and was happy for the chance to be able to listen to it as well. I think the narrator did an excellent job and didn’t detract at all as some do. I really felt for Grace. She was a very good person but overlooked by most people because her twin took the spotlight and overshadowed her. Her journey out of the shadows made for an entertaining read. The clean romance was well done. I would definitely read/listen to more from this author.

Clean and wonderful!

I loved this story. It took a different direction then I expected in the beginning, but I loved the story even more for it. This was a lovely, clean story about a girl who learns to love herself the way she is. The love story was sweet, and pulls you in.
