Publisher's Summary

To avoid being sent across an ocean, Grace switches places with her sister. The only man aware of their deception? A dear friend, and her secret love.

Grace Everly has no desire to set sail for the Caribbean, unlike her adventurous twin sister, Hope. Thanks to her sister’s irresponsible behavior and subsequent banning from the journey, Grace’s father decides to send her in Hope’s place. Desperate to remain where things are familiar, Grace proposes an unthinkable plan: that she and Hope switch places. They only have to keep up the act long enough for Hope to board a ship in London. When the man who has stolen Grace’s heart learns of their secret, things get more complicated.

Jacob Barnes, soon to be ordained a vicar, has known Grace and Hope his whole life. Though close to both sisters, he’s dreamed of courting Hope for months. When he realizes his friends have switched places, putting the woman he admires out of his reach, he agrees to help with the subterfuge despite his bruised heart. As he watches Grace stumble in her acting abilities, attempting to change who she is, he realizes how much she means to him. But how does he tell her, without risking their friendship?

The deception puts their relationship to the test. As Grace hides her heart and her identity, Jacob examines his feelings, and no one in their community will be happy when the truth is discovered.

This is the second book in the Inglewood series and can be enjoyed as a stand-alone sweet Regency romance.

Grace Comes Into Her Own

First of all, I have to say that I love Sally Britton’s writing, and I have read everything she has in print. This was a lovely story of Grace coming into her own. Grace switches places with her twin sister; Grace stays home and her sister Hope travels to the Caribbean to have the adventure of a lifetime. It is Grace that always worked behind the scenes planning parties and planning their charity work, but it was always Hope who always received the attention and credit. Hope also caught the eye of Jacob Barnes a lifetime friend of Hope and Grace, but Grace is the twin that is attracted to him. I have read the book and listened to the audio book. Marian Hussey did a wonderful job of narrating this delightful story; I loved listening to and reading this story.

My Favorite Sally Britton book so far!

Sally Britton is becoming ones of those authors that I automatically add her new releases to my TBR list and bump it to the top.
This one might be my favorite so far. Grace and Jacob were friends growing up and a little (a lot) of unrequited love made this one a struggle to put down.

Enjoyable listen

I recently read this book and was happy for the chance to be able to listen to it as well. I think the narrator did an excellent job and didn’t detract at all as some do. I really felt for Grace. She was a very good person but overlooked by most people because her twin took the spotlight and overshadowed her. Her journey out of the shadows made for an entertaining read. The clean romance was well done. I would definitely read/listen to more from this author.

Nice and Sweet

Really enjoying this series.
It‘s the right balance od plot and romance for me.
All is expected which is just what I expected (and looked for in this and previous book)

I was just a bit annoyed sometimes with characters overdramatising about each other motives for actions - but I guess the story would be much shorter if all characters would always be reasonable and rational ;-)

Looking forward do read the next book.

Such a perfect romance

This book has lovable characters, and an extremely amusing story. Even if you have not read the first book in the series, it is easy to enjoy this book on it's own (however, it will leave you itching to read the next book in the series about her sister).
I also thoroughly enjoyed the narrator's performance. It was very easy to listen to and follow. She changes voices slightly as characters exchange dialogue, but doesn't go over the top with dramatics. I loved it!
Highly recommend!

Sweet, clean romance

I enjoyed reading this book but when I got the opportunity to review the audiobook I was delighted. Marian Hussey does a wonderful narration for it. Perfect choice for this book. I loved it.

Sally Britton has quickly become a favorite author for me. I loved this sweet story. I liked Grace from the first book and my heart ached for her quiet heart. She loved Jacob who only has eyes for her sister. Both Jacob and Grace grow a great deal in this book. Grace grows beyond being the woman at her sister's side and becomes her own self. She'd always been content to be the unseen, unheard sister but by the end of the book she stands up to be seen and heard. Great growth. For her it must have been awful to sit and hear herself spoken of by other people. She wouldn't like it whether they spoke positively or negatively but how painful to hear the negative. Jacob too grows as he begins to see himself, his new role as vicar and the others around him more clearly.

I liked that though Grace and Hope are opposites in nature and Hope overshadows Grace most of the time, their relationship itself is not so uneven. They love each other so well. It would have been easy to make Hope be snotty or unseeing toward her sister but even though Hope is thoughtless in her thirst for adventure she appreciates her sister's qualities.

Even their father grows in this book. He isn't a main character but it is his temper over Hope's antics that sets up the premise of the book and by the end he is able to see more clearly and be forgiving as well.

I also loved Jacob's mother. How Jacob treats his mother is a good indicator of what kind of a husband he will be. He is not only kind and appreciative but also sees the gifts to which children are often oblivious.

This book is a slower paced, clean, gentle read much like Grace and Jacob. It fits their personalities beautifully.

No sex, language or violence

Grace is everything a heroine should be

I love that she is flawed, but learns from her experiences. Her love story is a fitting display of all that she is, even if it is not readily visible at first glance. The narration for this books is superb as well!

Another LOVE IT!!!!!
Sally Britton is so talented with the pin!!
She made me feel the emotions of love/wanted/loss/unwanted/patient/joy.
This is definitely a book for you for a gloomy day in front of a fire, with soft music on in the background :)

Britton’s books keep getting better and better!

Sally Britton’s books are a joy to read/listen to! I am eagerly looking forward to the next book in this series to come out on Audible! I definitely recommend reading or listening to “Rescuing Lord Inglewood” before this one, as so many characters from this story (including the hero and heroine for this one) are first introduced then and you get to find out how their stories progress with this one.
A clean and endearingly sweet story - we discover how friendships can change without our notice and that sometimes we need to get out of our own way in order to find all that we ever wanted.
I am guaranteed an enjoyable read or listennfrom start to finish whenever I pick up one of Britton’s book. I wholeheartedly recommend this author for anyone who enjoys clean and wholesome Regency Era novels. I particularly enjoy Marian Hussey’s narration of these stories! She brings the story off the page with superb emotion and enthusiasm.
