Publisher's summary

Do you long to be more like Christ?

Discipleship lies at the center of Christian life and practice. It is a beautiful journey, in which each of us simultaneously attempt to become more like Christ and to help others do the same. It is our most important task on earth, but often it is neglected or misunderstood. A. W. Tozer, on the other hand, knew exactly what it meant to disciple and to be discipled. Discipleship: What It Truly Means to Be a Christian is a collection of Tozer’s powerful and passionate message on discipleship.

In it, you will learn about: the call, terms, and marks of discipleship; devotional practices; obedience; reproducing disciples. Whether you are a new believer or have known Christ for a lifetime, Tozer’s words will encourage and inspire you to love Jesus more.

Come and be discipled by this beloved spiritual writer.

Right on point!

I think everyone should listen to this book. Tozer presents a clear argument that the easy salvation of most of evangelical Christianity is an illusion. While it is easy to accept the Lord Jesus into our hearts by crying out to Him for forgiveness and help, we must continue on our journey to follow Him into the Kingdom of Heaven. I think that if we really cry out to Jesus and accept the Holy Spirit into ourselves we will go on this journey of discipleship automatically, you cannot continue on your old path believing you're alright. I didn't know the extent to which my cry for salvation would change my life, but here I am listening to Christian books and leaving a review to encourage you to listen as well. Then go out and do something in the real world to spread the Word.

Must Read

Inspirational. Reminds us there is more to being a Christian than showing up to church once or twice a week!

Thought Provocative

First off let me just say that I'm not a big audio book fan but this medium allowed me to get through a book I didn't have the time to read; listened to most of the book while driving.

I love how Tozer shares his perspective and admits that even the very things he says and does are being challenged.

I don't agree with everything he says but I agree that being a Disciple of Christ embodies more than just saying "I accept Jesus as Lord".

This book will fuel many discussions in the future. I certainly will be listening to this book again to make note of a few quotes (may even get a printer version as well).

Many sticking phrases

Tozer has great insight into what it means to be holy and the need to disciple appropriately. One of many comments was concerning the church who does not teach holiness is more of a lodge with membership than a church with God's people. Another sticking comment was if we were to hate sin (be holy), we would live hated. Great listen or read. was hard not to listen to in one sitting.
