Publisher's summary

A Bright New Dawn is just around the corner for thousands of tiny nomes when they begin to move into the ruined buildings of an abandoned quarry. Or is it? Soon strange things start to happen. Like the tops of puddles growing hard and cold, and the water coming down from the sky in frozen bits. Then humans appear and they really mess everything up. But how long will the nomes be able to keep the humans at bay: even with the help of the monster Jekub? A hilarious sequel to Truckers.

Not ideal for the car

I love the story and the performance! However the performance is very, very dynamic, ranging from whispers to shouts. It’s tough to listen to when in a loud environment like a car or airplane.

A disappointment

The first of Terry Pratchetts books which I did not like. It doesn't hold together, it's not funny and clever the way most of his books are. (Some are ingenious.) I think his adult books are very playful so the publishers probably think that means he can write for children and young adults. I think this is a mistake though I enjoyed Wee Free Men and it's sequel. Neither were as good as the Discworld books, though.
