An exploration of seven legendary women in brief revisionist form and an appreciation for one woman composer, who was not allowed by the society in which she lived to fully explore her creative potential.

This audio version allows listeners to hear Bonis' music and judge for themselves her place in musical history. Pianist and writer Sonya Subbayya Sutton has taken inspiration from the pieces Bonis wrote about Phoebe, Omphale, Viviane, Desdemona, Salome, Ophelia, and Melisande to create new stories about these women. Fictional, historical, and musical elements are woven together in this audiobook.

This audio book is beautiful. Beautiful music by Mel Bonis beautifully performed by the author Sonya Subbayya Sutton. The short stories are lovely and engaging and Ms. Sutton’s voice is beautiful to listen to.
I would recommend this to anyone who loves piano music and interesting short stories.
