Spannend und romantisch
Ich bin ein Fan von Büchern mit Seals, FBI-Agenten oder sonstigen Männern in Uniform und deswegen ist mir dieser Klappentext direkt ins Auge gesprungen.
Der Schreibstil der Autorin ist locker-leicht, sodass mir der Einstieg in die Story recht leicht gefallen ist.
Nach dem Tod seiner Freunde kümmert sich der ehemalige SEAL Jed um seine Patentochter Nala, die jedoch dringend ein Kindermädchen braucht, denn Jed muss wieder anfangen zu arbeiten. Das Kindermädchen kommt in Form von Tess, die sich rührend um die Kleine kümmert, jedoch selber ein Päckchen aus ihrer Vergangenheit zu tragen hat.
Zwischen Jed und Tess bahnt sich mehr als nur eine Arbeitsbeziehung an, doch verändern sich die Dinge, als es wiederholt Anschläge auf Nalas Leben gibt.
Die Story ist gut aufgebaut, es ist Spannung da, wenn auch die am Anschlag beteiligten Personen ziemlich schnell auf meinem Verdächtigen Radar erschienen sind. Man muss der Autorin jedoch zu Gute halten, dass sie am Ende noch mit einer Überraschung aufgewartet hat, mit der ich so nicht gerechnet habe.
Tess und Jed waren beides sympathische Charaktere, doch mein Herz so richtig erobert hat Nala. Die Protagonisten wurden gut umrissen, doch kamen die Gefühle, die Tess und Jed füreinander empfinden bei mir als Leser bzw. Hörer leider nicht vollumfänglich an. Ich hätte mir ein paar mehr prickelnde Momente gewünscht. Auch hatte ich Schwierigkeiten mit Jeds innerer Zerrissenheit, da war noch Luft nach oben. Dass Jeds Gedanken sich immer um das Gleiche drehen, hat mich irgendwann etwas frustriert.
Abgesehen von ein paar wenigen Logikfehlern war das Buch eine kurzweilige Unterhaltung. Ich mag den Mix aus Romantik und Spannung, das hat die Autorin im Großen und Ganzen gut gemacht und ich freue mich schon auf das nächste Buch.
Das Hörbuch hat Colin Wende gesprochen, den ich als Hörbuchsprecher noch nicht kannte. Er hat meiner Meinung nach etwas überbetont, aber mit der Zeit hat mich das immer weniger gestört. Er hat den verschiedenen Protagonisten unterschiedliche Stimmen gegeben, was für eine kurzweilige Unterhaltung gesorgt hat. Doch war die Stimmlage, die er für die 11jährige Nala gewählt hat, überhaupt nicht mein Fall - die war viel zu piepsig.
Fazit:
Ein Hörbuch mit Spannung und Romantik, das trotz kleiner Schwächen eine kurzweilige Unterhaltung bietet.
