Der Autor:
Robert Louis Stevenson, 1850 in Schottland geboren, war als freier Schriftsteller tätig. Bereits in jungen Jahren erkrankte er an Tuberkulose, welche ihn in die Südsee führte. Dort starb er mit 44 Jahren. In den Werken von Stevenson spürt man eine fast abgöttische Liebe zu Meer und Reise, Abenteuer und Phantastik, nebst einem bewährten, verfeinerten, überlegenen Humor.
