Publisher's summary

Brought to you by Penguin.

The new high-octane thriller from Sunday Times best-selling author Simon Kernick.

Alastair Sheridan has it all. Wealth, good looks, a beautiful wife and children and, in the chaotic world of British politics, a real chance of becoming prime minister.

But Alastair also has a secret. He’s a serial killer with a taste for young women.

Only a handful of people know what kind of monster he is, and disgraced detective Ray Mason is one of them.

Awaiting trial for murder, Ray is unexpectedly broken free by armed men and given an offer: assassinate Alastair Sheridan and begin a new life abroad with a new identity. The men claim to be from MI6. They say that Sheridan is a threat to national security and needs to be neutralised. Ray knows they are not who they say they are and that their real motives are far darker.

The only person Ray trusts is ex-cop and former lover Tina Boyd, who’s keen to settle her own scores with Sheridan.

With enemies on every side, only one thing is certain.

No one wants them to get out alive.

Critic reviews

"Simon Kernick is one of the most reliable purveyors of the edge-of-your-seat thriller...a more powerful adrenaline rush than an EpiPen." (Jake Kerridge, Sunday Express

"An emotionally punchy domestic noir blended with the pace and action of a high-octane thriller, We Can See You will keep you breathlessly on the edge of your seat, wondering which character you can trust, if any at all, until the final brilliant twist! A #WTFthatending indeed!" (Sarah Pinborough, author of Behind Her Eyes and Cross Her Heart)

"A pacy thriller, with a body count that rises along with the tension levels." (Sunday Mirror

Book 3 Die Alone

This is a thrilling thriller! It is fast paced and full of action from beginning to end. Set in the shady world of politics and the old boy's network, corruption reigns supreme.

There is human trafficking, contract killing, blackmail and every other crime against humanity that you could imagine.

And yet amongst this darkness, there are pinpoints of light and humanity. There are people who are prepared to sacrifice themselves to do the right thing, to fight against those corrupted by their own power.

Ray Mason is one such person. Tina Boyd another.

This is an exciting book, one that I would like to see made into a movie. Although this is the third book in a series, it is easily read as a stand alone. The author provides enough back information in the course of the story to make this possible. I look forward to more to come. And coming from someone who is more of a murder mystery/crime/domestic & family drama reader, this is high praise indeed.

Paul Thornley was great with the delivery of the story

Final part of Trilogy

Audible fail to mention that this is actually the third book in The Bone Fields trilogy, the first two being:
- The Bone Field
- The Hanged Man
I didn't realise this until I was half way through. It can be read as a stand-alone book, but it comes over as a little odd, and information from the previous two books gets thrown at you in a way that you have to comprehend very quickly.

The story picks up with our main narrator, Detective Ray Mason having spent a year in prison awaiting trial for murder. He soon manages to escape from prison, and he's then back on the trail of the "Bone-Field" killers (presumably from the first two books).

There's lots of action and shooting in this book. I found myself having to keep track of who had killed whom in order to follow. Great writing, I was easily able to visualise myself in the scenes. Quite a nice Hitchcock-like plot including MI6, government ministers as well as regular and ex-police involved in the action. Mainly the action takes place in London and other UK places, but in true Hitchcock style, we get taken to exotic European locations as well, and with a bit of romance thrown in. Exciting from the start and all the way through. There were no flat bits.

Good reading by Paul Thornley. Not-so-good editing. In a couple of places his mis-reads a line then repeats it correctly. The recording editors failed to deal with the repeats.

This was my second Simon Kernick book. I really like him, he's an excellent writer of this kind of thriller and I plan to read more of his works. I don't need to go back and read the first two parts of this trilogy now though.

Classic thriller with twists and turns

First of all let me say that Paul Thornley who narrates this audio book, is in my opinion one of the best , and books read by him are always in my virtual library. The book will not disappoint. I have had a couple of mediocre audio books recently and this has been a welcome change. The Bone Field which I think is the book before this should be read before but isn't essential. Give it a try, it's a great thriller with a fast pace.

Not for faint- hearted ...

Despite normally avoiding content such as graphic murders or torture of sexual nature , I have to admit I was absorbed by this book. Shocking in places, but a thrilling story line. Unpredictable & worth a read

Die Alone

Took a while to get into this book but was worth perseverance . A good storyline after a somewhat drawn out start. Narration well presented.

A really good premise and lots of action

I really look forward to and enjoy Simon Kernick books. This one was a really good premise and lots of action. The perfect ingredients too, twists, turns, great characters and element were evocative. I really enjoyed it but for some reason I felt jaded by the end of it.
A writer has to steer the reader on a course of suspended belief, this did it but the story just seemed to go on and a few of the links were too tenuous.
It might be time to retire the main characters, (I won't say the names as saying who survived will only serve as a spoiler).
Paul Thornley is a great performer and I find I am not looking for the performers as much as the authors in this medium.
