Great Overview of DBT

This is a great overview of DBT. There is one boring part where all the different types of people DBT is good for is covered, but other than that it's excellent. The readers voice is perfect.

Not worth the listen

At first I thought I would learn something from this. But it is disjointed and difficult to listen too. The author has put so many quotes from other people, he’s written only half a book. He goes off on a UK mental health rant, which in itself is imports, however not meant for this book. Totally disappointed.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy Guide

The different plans for variations on the therapy can be a bit much to keep up with but there is an application of DBT here for almost any need.

Misleading description

I bought this book in the hopes of learning DBT skills I can use in everyday life, because that is what the description said. Unfortunately, 95% of this book focuses on the applications and effectiveness of DBT; It does not teach you the practical skills you can apply in everyday life. It is a great book in terms of learning what DBT is, but not if you want to actually learn HOW to do it.

Teach good

This book looks thorough and well done, however it's obviously explained for therapists and those running DBT groups. It tells the listneer exercises to use during groups and sessions and how to deal with clients in various situations

Useful learning

Very useful in learning about DBT skills. Helps aim at a more practical approach for using the skills. The format is easy to understand and follow. Just started listening, it's very well explained and a good followup of other works I've learned from as family members pursue skills training.

Repetitive and not very useful

Most of this book is telling you what a patient undergoing DBT WOULD receive and tells you very little in terms of usable information. It also constantly repeats what sorts of conditions would benefit from DBT, which while initially helpful, is not really all that interesting the 12 time mentioned. The only useful summary is the notion of mindfulness, and so I would recommend a good book on mindfulness instead.

DON’T BELIEVE THE FAKE REVIEWS BELOW

There is very little that is useful in this book. It explains what DBT is, and that’s about it.

Lot of citations and a whole chapter (41 minutes!) is the transcript of Ed Milliband speech. Completely useless.

Chapters end not having explained much at all. Lots of repetition (clearly copied and pasted).

Someone has pasted together some DBT notions and put a book together. Useless.

Have a look at the reviews, some have exactly the same wording.

DO NOT BUY THIS, WASTE OF MONEY
