Publisher's summary

Evil can always find an accomplice…

Nine years ago, police found Shaye Archer wandering in the French Quarter, beaten and abused and with no memory of the previous fifteen years, not even her name. But her last case uncovered more than she ever anticipated.

She’s starting to remember.

“I’m launching an investigation,” Shaye says.

Eleonore, her friend and therapist sighs. “I figured you would.”

“I always knew my past was bad. It couldn’t have been otherwise.”

Shaye holds up the piece of paper that had sent her life into a tailspin. “But I never imagined this.”

All I can say is...WOW! I did not see the end coming! I am as blown away as the characters are. What’s great twist!

Dark storyline, excellent series

Not the cozy mystery of Miss Fortune, but an excellent, suspenseful read. These stories are dark mysteries. I love this author. Shaye Archer is a dark, suspenseful series with excellent characters and mysteries. This story has Shaye's past being revealed. Characters from prior books are back. Great author, great series. I held off on reading this one because I knew it would be emotional for the main character and it was. I switched between reading and listening. The narrator is good. She is the voice of Shaye to me.

Great mystery book

This series is amazing and the characters are so real you feel like you know them. The way the story continues from book to book is great. Lots of suspense and surprises.

Good story!

I have a problem with the male voices being the same. There needs to be some variances. The male voice also sounds a bit weak and sorrowful. May not get the rest of the series on audible due to this.

Good but not my fav of the series

This one is as surprising as it was a struggle. There is a lot of back and forth between time to get the answers needed. I am glad this portion of the story is done and we can move on to other great stories in the series. This is not my fav of the series but it is a tricky one. Its good seeing a lot of the same characters from the last couple books.

I listened to Julie McKay narrate this one. She does a great job on this one.

Archer family secrets and revelations...

Book three in this series has some revelations for Shaye Archer. The book begins in 1938 with a satanic ritual, it then picks up where the last book left off. I would recommend these books be read/listened to in order. Each ends with a cliff hanger and the next picks up from that point.
So, the last ended with a suspect dead and written records showing where he had been trafficking kids for over 20 years. The files are coded but the police are able to decode some of the earlier paperwork that have simpler coding and find information pertaining to the sale of Shaye and the payment to her mother (who recently died from a drug overdose). They also find information showing that the man who purchased Shaye recently purchased another young girl.
This book is a journey for Shaye to discover and confront her demons and hopefully rescue another young girl from the same fate.
Another thriller that I HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
Julie McKay does an outstanding job narrating. I think she gets better with each book!
