Publisher's summary

The macabre, witty New York Times best-selling series (and inspiration for the number one Showtime series, Dexter) continues as our darkly lovable killer matches wits with a sadistic artiste - who is creating bizarre murder tableaux of his own all over Miami.

After his surprisingly glorious honeymoon in Paris, life is almost normal for Dexter Morgan. Married life seems to agree with him: he’s devoted to his bride, his stomach is full, and his homicidal hobbies are nicely under control. But old habits die hard - and Dexter’s work as a blood spatter analyst never fails to offer new temptations that appeal to his offbeat sense of justice…and his Dark Passenger still waits to hunt with him in the moonlight.

The discovery of a corpse (artfully displayed as a sunbather relaxing on a Miami beach chair) naturally piques Dexter's curiosity and Miami’s finest realize they’ve got a terrifying new serial killer on the loose. And Dexter, of course, is back in business.

Critic reviews

"The best of Dexter’s four adventures to date, the trademark mixture of amusement and horror complemented by a genuinely suspenseful plot." ( Kirkus)
"Dexter is a brilliant creation, a monster who walks like a man, a homicidal maniac who only kills people who deserve it, a simulacrum of a human being who has had to learn how to fake his way through the intricacies of human interaction. There is a popular television series about the character, but a TV show can’t capture the nuances of Lindsay’s writing, the subtleties of Dexter’s delightfully deranged mind…Like a lightly comic version of Hannibal Lecter, Dexter is a genuinely memorable, disturbingly compelling antihero." The Novels are better than the TV show!

I much prefer to read stand-alone novels, but Jess Lindsay puts so much personality into these stories! Another reason that I usually don't like series books, is because a lot of them are the same thing over and over again, just packaged a little differently. this book could be read as a stand-alone, but oh, I personally think you'll get much more enjoyable and a better understanding of who and why Dexter Morgan is the way he is, IF, you start from the beginning..!

Back to being amazing. probably my favorite Dexter

My favorite dexter so far. Twist and turns and pure nerveracking fun. Also loved the fact it touched on all the main characters so far, Deb,Chutsky,Doakes, the kids Rita. and even the bad guys were great, by far Dexter's toughest so far. highly recommended

I wish Dexter's Dark Passenger helped him with what to say to get out of those tough interrogation situations.

The loud voice used for Debra and Astor. I am constantly turning down the volume.

A good listen

Although the quality of this story is lesser than the previous entries in the series. It is still an enjoyable continuation of the Dexter series and I would recommend it to anyone that enjoyed the other entries.

Dexter the P***y

I love Dexter (the show and books) however D was more like a P in this one! Liked the kids in this one. Still worth a listen but honestly this far in the game are you going to not listen?!
