In this segment, Jeffrey Liker presents a clear explanation of how a manage-by-the-numbers approach with disconnected processes leads people to hide their defects and make the numbers look good even when their work may be negatively impacting other processes. When processes are more closely connected, such as in one piece flow, defects surface quickly.
